Men and women can be friends.

At least that’s what I’ve been telling myself since George walked into my life.

We bicker as much as we have each other’s backs.
We’re inseparable.

So, she left to find herself and I feel like I can’t breathe without her.
It’s okay, it’s only temporary.

But when she walks back into my life, it’s on the arm of a stranger.
Her fiancé.

Seriously, I just realized I'm in love with her and she's engaged?

I have six weeks to convince George we’re meant to be together—not only in the kitchen or be forced to watch her marry another man.

Time is running out, and soon, she’ll be gone from my life.
I’m risking everything, will that be enough?

Someday, Somehow is a sexy romantic comedy that’s equal parts funny and flirty. Made of Honor clashes with When Harry Met Sally in a sweet and seductive love story of hopeful hearts and second chances. Bring the laughs and the tissues!

Caroline's Review

✮✮✮✮

A gorgeous story about friendship, family, food, and love that takes place over a period of twelve years.

“After that soul gripping kiss I wonder if we can really be friends.”

When Georgia AKA George Jones meets Agustin for the first time, she thinks he’s a jerk. However, when they meet again, he wins her over with food and the beginnings of friendship, but not before they share a sizzling kiss. Unfortunately, George is in need of friends and, therefore, they move forward in the friend-zone. And, what a beautiful, unswerving friendship they have!

“I don’t know if she realizes how much she means to me. She makes my entire world better, just by existing.”

Agustin AKA Auggie Beltran strives constantly to be worthy of his father’s expectations and his legacy. He has a romantic outlook on life but, ironically, has no time for love. Except for this family, the only person who is a constant in his life is George, and he loves her so much that he encourages her to spread her wings, even though he feels lost without her. Seriously, there’s nothing he wouldn’t do for his best friend.

“There was a reason I couldn’t fall in love with anyone else. My heart already belonged to someone else.”

Honestly, these two were like an old married couple but purely platonic – until one of them wakes up to the fact that what they feel is more than friendship. And, that’s when things start feeling off-kilter. They never seem to be on the same page; their outlook on relationships don’t seem to match. It was beautiful to watch the beginnings and then the growth of their friendship. What Auggie and George had was completely solid and dependable. Unfortunately, not only did Auggie have such a focus on his career goals but he also had a set idea about love and commitment that he was blind to what he had in his life. George was a tough cookie but she had her vulnerable spots. Auggie was pretty much always there to pick her up when she needed him but she made mistakes in her desperation to move on.

This was one slow-burn read – I was sad that it took them so long to wake up to each other (I always feel like this when couples have a huge time span before they get together) but felt so happy when they got their act together.

Excerpt

“A junior invited me,” Megan said excitedly. “It might be the party of the year.”

Party?

It looks like Union Square during New Year’s Eve.

What is everyone waiting for?

This party wasn’t worth the three-mile walk from our dorm to here.

The cheap alcohol tops it all. I didn’t get drunk with the first sip of a screwdriver; I got a massive headache. This isn’t for me. The circle of girls gossiping about everything as they wait to be swooped by some guy—not my scene.

Haven’t we done this for the past twelve hours? Chat about nonsense. This is why I don’t have many friends. I was too busy with my extracurricular activities that I skipped socializing 101. Give me a good book to read. A movie to watch or a marathon on TBS or Nick at Nite to keep me up all night. I suggest we leave, and what does roommate-dearest say in response? “I’ll find you a place to crash.”

The bedroom is dark but clean. I grab a sweatshirt and even a bear I find on the floor. It only takes a few seconds for me to fall asleep. It is quiet, smells of sandalwood and pine, and the sheets are soft.

I miss home.

Everything is going well until the guy from the coffee shop wakes me up. I swear it feels like a dream. A nightmare. But after we talk, I realize he’s not as bad as I thought. He’s one of the good guys but likes to pretend he’s anything but.

His food…who knew eggs could taste this great? In exchange for yet another plate, I could offer to fix the light fixtures. This place is off code.

And there I go, thinking like my father. Instead of teaching me construction, he should’ve taught me how to socialize. I wish my aunts had been around more often during my teenage years. I’d be a little cooler, or at least I’d know how to make friends easily.

Auggie takes the empty plate from my hands and offers me some milk. I nod, that sounds better than whatever they’re serving upstairs.

“It must be hard moving away from all your friends and family,” he says.

I shrug and smile. I don’t make friends easily. Well, actually, I don’t make friends at all. Dad and I have always been on the run. Running to school, running to a construction site, running to tae kwon do, running to the grocery store...

There’s never time to exchange more than a greeting and a weak how are you before I have to go again.

During my spare time I help Dad around the house or at work. If I do the latter, it pays for my knickknacks, and I get to spend time with him.

“It’s just Dad and me,” I remind him.

“Any other family?”

“Mom’s family faded away after she died. Dad’s sisters stepped up, but now they have their own families, so during my teenage years it was just the two of us.” I drink some of the milk he poured me.

“Grandparents?”

“How about you?” I fire back without answering his question. And study him.

He’s not as bad as I thought earlier. In fact, he’s very nice. And good looking. Tall, mussed-up, dark hair, hazel eyes. Black t-shirt hugging his lean and defined muscles. There’s a playful tug at the corner of his mouth, and I see a dimple forming on the left side of his cheek.

He turns me on, but he’s he and well, I’m me.

Marley kept whining. She stomped her foot and shook her head at her father when he held out a stuffed giraffe. Nate swapped it out for a book, turning to a page and pointing at one of the pictures. She wasn’t interested. Marley fell back onto her butt as tears hit her cheeks. Her legs kicked against the floor with fury.

Nate pinched his eyes shut, ran a hand through his hair, and looked down at her. He appeared lost, and possibly on the brink of a melt-down himself.

He was overwhelmed, that was clear.

“Has she eaten dinner? Maybe she’s hungry,” I said, walking over to the play yard. On instinct, I bent over the gate and held out my arms. I wanted to soothe her somehow. I at least wanted to try. I hated seeing this sweet thing so upset.

Marley immediately stood up and came to me. When I got her on my hip, she settled down and played with the chain around my neck again.

“I don’t know what she is,” Nate replied. He held up his glasses and rubbed at his eyes. “I guess she could be hungry.”

“If you want, I can take her out there and she can eat with us. It’s just me and my kids.”

“Really?”

“Sure. What does she like off the menu?”

He looked at Marley, thinking hard on that question. “Normal two-year-old stuff?” Our gazes met. I saw the embarrassment in his eyes before he looked down and away. “Sorry. I really don’t know what she likes. I haven’t spent much time with her.” He gripped the back of his neck, mumbling, “I’m sure that’s obvious right now.”

His shame was palpable.

Something about the way Nate spoke, the humiliation in his voice, the rejection—he wanted to know his daughter. He wanted to have the answer to any question I could ask him about her, and he didn’t know how.

Everything inside me that made me who I was, wanted to help him.

So, what happens when I only want to pleaseher?

KENDALL
Pastor’s kid. Single mom. Divorced before I could drink.

Until the infamous Logan Hunter makes me an offer: I help him with his problem and he helps me with mine.
He’s the most gorgeous, infuriating man I’ve ever met. Every bit of my control crumbles when I’m around him.
It’s reckless. A bad idea. A devil’s bargain…

I’m totally going to hell for this.

Caroline's Review

✮✮✮✮✮

This is a new-to-me author and I really loved this story.

Logan Hunter is a playboy through and through. He loves to live recklessly and isn't one to take life too seriously. However, one reckless bet later, and he's realised that he's taken things a step too far.

"I'm forced to admit that my supposed salvation come in an attractive, if unorthodox, package."

Salvation comes in the form of single mum, Kendall Sullivan. She works hard and strives to give her son a good life. There's no room or time in her life for a relationship. When she's not working, she's busy adding to her bucket "Do Me" list. From the moment they meet, there's no denying the blazing chemistry between them. Although Kendall is beautiful, Hunter can see right away that she's not his usual type, however, he can't help flirting with her or stay away from her. But, can two such opposite people have a chance together?

"He feels like danger. And temptation. A kind of rawness I never thought was real."

This was such a fab, sexy story! Logan might like to live up to his reckless reputation, but he's certainly got his hangups and vulnerable spots. He's a thoroughly nice guy, with a healthy respect for women. Kendall is a tough cookie and has worked hard for her success in the big city. I loved how she could see through to the heart of Logan, and the kind of man he really was under his playboy veneer. I loved how she made him feel - how he wanted to do better for her - but I also loved that he pushed her out of her comfort zone. His rapport with her son, Rory, melted my heart. Logan understands people and that's the secret to his success. These two together were so hot, so real and so right! Loved them!

REVIEW: Hate the Game by Winter Renshaw

Hate the Game by Winter Renshaw

Talon Gold is a lot of things: good at football, bad at love. Obsessed with scoring, refuses to play by the rules. Cruel. Relentless. Brilliant. Intoxicatingly attractive.

Despite his demanding reputation and propensity for being the most arrogant a-hole ever to strut Pacific Valley University’s picturesque campus, everyone wants a piece of him: coaches, scouts, and pretty little campus fangirls with pouty lips and perfect top knots.

But Talon … he only wants a piece of me.

And four straight years of infuriating rejection means I’m almost positive he’d take a night with me over a national championship trophy.

But I’m no fool—he only wants me because he can’t have me. And with graduation approaching, time is running out. He’s more desperate than ever, pulling out all the stops and doing everything in his power to get in my good graces.

They say, “Don’t hate the player, hate the game.”

But to that I say, “Why not both?”

I have my reasons ...

Sorry, BMOC. This victory? Not going to happen.

Caroline's Review

✮✮✮✮✮

Gorgeous, easy read!

“This happens every time – the ongoing war between my mind and body every time he comes around.”

Irie Davenport has successfully dodged Talon Gold for nearly four years. Never mind that she secretly enjoys his attention but there’s no way she wants to get involved with someone like him again – a popular quarterback. She’s been burnt before and her walls are like a fortress.

“I tend to be numb to most things, most of the time, but not this. Not her. Not us – or rather, what we could be.”

Talon has wanted Irie since the first time he laid eyes on her in freshman year, but no matter what he does, he just can’t catch a break with her. When an opportunity to work closely with her presents itself, he grabs it with both hands. Time spent together gives him a chance to finally show her that he’s more than his façade and, as they grow closer, Irie finds it harder and harder to resist him. But, at what cost?

“You’re the real deal…And I know that if we walk away from this, I’m never going to find anyone half as real as you.”

I really loved this college-based, sports romance. I loved the push and pull between Talon and Irie. Honestly, Talon is so gorgeous that it’s amazing that she’s fended him off for so long! I loved how Talon broke through her walls and just how much he wanted her. Both have got issues to work through but I enjoyed how they supported one another. Their chemistry was beautiful and Talon’s enthusiasm for her was so addictive! Such a fab read!

RELEASE BLITZ, REVIEW & GIVEAWAY: My Pen is Huge by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff

My Pen Is Huge

The OHellNo Series Book #5

From New York Times Bestseller Mimi Jean Pamfiloff, Comes a Saucy Minx of a Book, MY PEN IS HUGE. (OHellNo #5 - Standalone.)

Dear Mr. Merrick,

I quit.

And since you’re obsessed with your stupid pen collection, I thought it appropriate to take the big one you love so much and write my resignation letter. Kiss your pen goodbye, big man!

Because when I agreed to work for you—a hotshot journalist I’ve admired for years—no one told me that you had a secret life and that you’d bug my apartment, have someone killed, and make the moves on me just to test whether I’m serious about this job.

I mean, come on! What kind of boss does that? Yes, you’re ten degrees hotter than the sun, and you melt panties everywhere you go, but this “little intern” is done with your games.

From this day forward, consider me your mortal enemy, your biggest threat. Maybe your pen is huge, but my determination is bigger. See you on the battlefield, Mr. Big Pen.

Your ex-admirer,
Gisselle Walters

Caroline's Review

✮✮✮✮

This was a funny read right off the bat!

"I'm getting the impression that Merrick is not at all the suave British man with a quippy mouth he pretends to be."

Gisselle Walters is excited when her college professor sets her as assistant to the journalistic icon, Leland Merrick. In spite of some of the negative rumours about, he's a fearless journalist from whom she's hoping to learn a lot. However, they get off on the wrong foot and he seems intent on making her so uncomfortable that she'll quit. Throw in the fact that there's some sizzling chemistry between them.

"Who does she think she's fooling with her awkward little-nerd act? Anyone with eyes can see that she's a bold, insanely attractive woman"

Leland Merrick works alone but somehow, his old friend has managed to saddle him with an assistant - or, an intern, as he insists. This beautiful, nerdy girl has no place in his life - either as his assistant or anything more. However, the more he tries to push her away for her own safety, the more determined she is to best him.

"He is a fantasy to look at, but being kissed by Leland Merrick is better than any dream. He's sexy on steroids."

This was such a fun read! Gisselle is awkward, funny, feisty and idealistic. I loved her go-getting attitude and her resourcefulness. Leland was a hoot! He's definitely more than meets the eye - there's a lot of depth to him in spite of his flippancy. The two of them together were electric and snarky. I loved how they challenged each other. Leland had definitely met his match!

Adore this series and looking forward to the next book!

There’s no way I’m going to attend. I don’t care if it’s in beautiful Scotland.

Not even when he shoots me a wickedly, sexy smile.

But then he offers me the opportunity of a lifetime—a dream come true. How can I say no?

But I have one condition. He has to be my new boyfriend. I mean, my pretend new boyfriend.

I'm about to find out that faking it can be a whole lot of fun.

Caroline's Review
✮✮✮✮✮

I’m wild about Beck and Stella!

“For her, I wasn’t sure if there was anything I wouldn’t do.”

Beck Wilde needs to clinch one last deal in order to demolish his demons and put his past behind him. Stella London is his golden ticket, however, he has his job cut out trying to convince her. He just needs to make her an offer she can’t refuse.

“Before I could finish my sentence, his lips were on mine, and sparks of energy raced from his lips across my skin.”

Stella really doesn’t want to go to the most painful wedding of the year, but when Beck agrees to her terms, she sees it as an opportunity for closure and to start afresh. However, what starts out as fake slowly revolves into something real. Unfortunately, with her track record, can she put trust in her feelings or Beck?

I ADORED this story! Beck and Stella were everything! In spite of being super rich and super gorgeous, Beck is pretty down to earth and I loved his little chinks of vulnerability. Stella herself is pretty sassy and capable, in spite of her doormat tendencies. I loved how she kept him on his feet and how much trust they built between them. They were so natural and so right together, with plenty of attraction and enough sexual energy between them to power a city!

Fantastic story and great dialogue – definitely one of my favourites from this author!
