SYNOPSIS

I never meant to fall for a prince… now nothing can be the same again.
It wasn’t meant to be this way… My life with my daughter was safe and protected; perfectly controlled.
Then he came and smashed everything I knew, everything I thought I knew, into pieces.
He broke my heart with his lies and deception, but now he’s under my skin and I can’t go back to the life I once had. All roads lead to him, the king of my heart, the man I would change everything for.
But with royalty comes obligation and expectation. Everyone wants a piece of him.
Inside the palace walls, he swears to keep us safe, yet I know the promise isn’t his to make.
Can he be the person his country needs while also loving us? Can I be the woman who stands proud by his side, or will I always be the daughter of a drug addict who has no place in the higher realms of society?
He says we can make it work, that we can fight tradition and give his people something new.
I wonder what price we will pay to be free to live our dream.
A heart-stopping Rags to Riches tale.

✮✮✮✮✮

Such a fantastic conclusion! Fairytales do come true!

"I will never love you in secret again. The risk to losing you is too great."

Following on from the cliffhanger in the first book, we see Oliver and Leia coming back together. Against all the odds, they are determined to make it work - out in the open and properly in the public eye. I absolutely adored Oliver's resolute determination to never be without Leia again. They and the royal family will be severely tested by public opinion, personal battles, and secrets that have been suppressed. Oliver is determined to bring the family into the 21st century with Leia's help. One thing he will not compromise is a life with Leia and Daisy.

"I can't breathe without you."

This was a wonderful conclusion to Oliver and Leia's story. The prince is so swoony! There's so much love and irresistible passion between them. I was rooting for them all the way as they navigated their way through numerous obstacles and heartbreak. And, such a beautiful ending. Thoroughly recommend this duet. Pure escapism!

RELEASE BLITZ & REVIEW: Everything's Better with Lisa by Lucy Eden

Title: Everything's Better with Lisa
Series: Everything's Better #3
Author: Lucy Eden
Genre: Contemporary Romantic Comedy
Release Date: November 25, 2019

Blurb

When I first noticed Lisa Betancourt, she threatened me with a baseball bat.
To be fair, I deserved it.
But none of that mattered when I found out I had a baby brother—a brother who is now left to my care. Too bad I don’t know the first thing about parenting. If I have any hope of not ruining this poor kid’s life, I need Lisa’s help. She quickly becomes my salvation, my heart. And even though our timing is all wrong, I can’t help but wonder how I can convince her to stay with me—with us—forever.

Cole Simmons is just my insensitive jerk of a neighbor.
Or, that’s all he used to be.
Now he’s in completely over his head, taking care of an adorable child that I’m getting way too attached to way too fast. And the scary part? I’m starting to get attached to Cole, too. After my nasty divorce, I was sure I’d never risk falling in love again—but Cole has me questioning my resolve at every turn. Frankly, I’m starting to wonder if Cole isn’t the only one who is in completely over his head.

Neither of them was looking for love or a ready-made family. But what will they do when they realize they’ve stumbled head-long into both?

Caroline's Review

✮✮✮✮

This is a new-to-me author and I really enjoyed this story. It's the third book in series of inter-connected standalones.

Cole Simmons gets off on totally the wrong foot with his beautiful new neighbour, Lisa Betancourt. However, when he finds himself the guardian of his hitherto unknown baby brother, and not having the first clue about raising babies, he's more than grateful for Lisa's intervention and help.

"I'd never been asked for a kiss before. It was adorable, silly, but also somehow incredibly sexy."

Lisa is still licking her wounds after a painful divorce. She's moved away from her family and loved ones to New York for a brand new start. She has no interest in being in a relationship so soon, however, Cole has a way of knocking down her walls. When baby CJ is thrown into the mix, there's no way that she can keep herself away, especially when Cole offers her the role of nanny.

Overall, this was a great, really sexy read! Lisa is pretty vulnerable and comes with baggage. Cole's baggage is nothing to be sniffed at either but his family are wonderful, loving and so supportive. It's obvious that the two have amazing chemistry but both were so uncertain on how to navigate into more personal waters, once they'd set professional boundaries. I loved Cole - he's such a good man and I enjoyed the unravelling of the mystery surrounding his background. Plus, he's really not too shabby in the bedroom, either! A lovely, hot story with a sweet ending.

“So, that happened.” I tucked my bottom lip between my teeth and raised my eyebrows.
“It definitely did.” He rolled me on top of him so he could kiss me again. “Are you having regrets?”
“Definitely not, but—”
“Is this where you tell me that even though we spent the last,” he checked his watch, “fifteen minutes having the best sex I’ve ever had, during which I made you come three,”
I held up four fingers, grinning,
“Oh, excuse me, four times. It was a bad decision and we should never do it again?”
“Cole…”
“Lisa, I’m probably going to lose my job tomorrow and CJ’s gonna wake up any minute. Can we just enjoy this moment?”
A wide grin split my face. “The best sex you’ve ever had?”
“That’s what I said.”
“Okay,” I held his face in my hands and kissed him. “Let’s enjoy this moment.”

Sometimes you meet people who are out of this world, so you make them a part of yours.

A one-night stand born from vengeance in a foreign land.
An explosive chemistry neither of us could deny.

We signed a contract on the back of a Boar’s Head Pub napkin that said if we ever met again, we would drop everything and be together.

Eight years and thousands of miles later, he’s here.
In New York.
And he’s America’s music obsession.

The intangible Irish poet who brings record executives to their knees.
The blizzard in my perfect, unshaken snow globe.

Last time we spoke, he was a beggar with no intention of becoming a king.
But a king he became, and now I’m his servant.

I’m not the same broken princess Malachy Doherty put back together with his callused hands.
I have a career I love.
A boyfriend I adore.
An apartment, a roommate, a life.

I changed. He changed, too.
But Mal kept the napkin.

Question is, will I keep my word?

Caroline's Review

✮✮✮✮✮

Oh my! This book had typical LJ Shen written all over it but, at the same time, there was a humorous quirkiness added to it to make it a pretty unique read.

"You burn under my fingertips, Rory. How do I give you up?"

Eight years ago, Rory went to Ireland to discover her history but she found Malachy instead. One magical day and night spent together leave an indelible mark on them both. Fast forward to the present and the two characters have changed a lot, especially Mal. He's no longer the sweet, sexy dreamer of Rory's memories, the man who has held her heart for almost a decade. He's bitter and hateful and intent on punishing her for misdeeds unknown to her.

"This girl was put in my life to change it."

Mal wants his revenge on the girl who ruined his life. The maddening thing of all is how much he still wants her even though he hates her. However, the more time he spends with her, he realises that things aren't adding up and when a stunning revelation occurs to him, it turns his perceptions and beliefs upside down, and he's suddenly fighting to keep her any way he can.

"There wasn't one moment in time, from the second we met, that you weren't mine. Just like I've always been yours."

This story had many things including a brilliant initial connection between the characters and a promise of something more. As we flip back and forth between the present and the past, we see how Mal has become the man he is in the present. It's a heartbreaking and angsty journey for them both, pitted with obstacles. Mal and Rory were made for one another and their chemistry was off the charts. Throughout the story, it's clear that no matter what has taken place, they are both totally hooked on the other. The little bit of quirkiness in the story was funny and sometimes downright weird! LOL. It was also an excellent device to get a fully rounded story with a twisty plotline. A fantastic, excellent read!

Excerpt

When I finally come face to face with the street artist standing on the side of the pavement, his guitar case open and full of rolled-up notes and change, I understand why his grandfather told me I’d recognize him with the self-assurance of an avid believer.
I’ve never seen someone like him before.
He is beautiful, true, but that’s not what stands out to me. He is radiant.
It’s like his presence has a presence. He sucks the air out of everything in his vicinity, making it impossible not to look at him. Malachy is tailor-made for a huge, colossal heartbreak. Everything about him—his tattered jeans, filthy boots, white shirt, and leather jacket that was broken in decades ago—screams trouble. He looks like a seventies heartthrob. An icon. A Terry Richardson muse. Bruce Springsteen pre-fame.
His voice is like honey and warm spices. It lulls me into a place in my mind I’ve never been before, even though it’s far from beautiful. It is gruff, throaty, and smoky. When someone bumps my shoulder to get closer to him, I snap out of my reverie and realize what I’m listening to.
“One” by U2.
The coincidence is strange. I try to tell myself it’s nothing. This is Ireland. U2 is a national treasure.
His eyes are squeezed shut as he sings. It’s like no one exists other than him and his guitar. Something warm rushes through my skin, like a heat wave, and I shudder in delight.
Warmth.
I always thought there was something melancholy about street performers—the way people walk past them, ignoring their music, their art, their passion. But this guy, he’s the one doing the ignoring. The tables have turned. He’s got the crowd eating from the palm of his hand. Every woman here is under a thick, sweet spell. He’s got that Harry Styles quality that makes girls want to bed him and older women want to adopt him. The men are a cross between impatient, annoyed, and jealous. You can see it in the way they tap their feet, check their watches, nudge their wives and girlfriends to move it.
The song ends, and Malachy Doherty cracks his eyes open and stares directly at me, like he knew I’d be here. Like he watched me watching him through closed eyes. Disoriented—and for some reason wanting to do something, anything—I throw a bill into his guitar case and look away, realizing to my horror that I threw the fifty euros his grandpa gave me. Everyone around me murmurs and whistles. They think it was intentional. I can feel my face flaming red. I bet he thinks I want to sleep with him.
Do I? Probably. But should he know that? Hell no.

Caroline's Review

✮✮✮✮

This was a really great sweet and sexy read.

"I don't want to be the guy who saved her, I want to be the guy she chooses."

Nathan Payne is haunted by nightmares but does what he has to do to keep everything afloat. When he gets in trouble, the brightest spot in his life becomes the new transfer to Valley. They strike a mutually beneficial deal but, deep down, he wants everything between them to be real.

"Our agreement is starting to feel like the longest foreplay ever."

Chloe MacPherson is having a tough time gelling with her new roommates and teammates, as she transferred to her new college under a cloud. When she realises that Nathan could help her win her teammates over, she makes him an offer he can't refuse. However, when real and fake start to blur, she needs to decide if she has room in her life to have something real with him.

I really enjoyed reading Nathan and Chloe's story. They had instant chemistry and I loved the barely-there restraint they both showed. They both had issues to deal with but I loved how well-matched they were and how they understood each other. There were some definite swoony moments between them! It was great seeing Chloe win over her roommates/teammates, and I adored how Nathan's friends stood by him and not so surreptiously tried to help him wherever they could. This story was a worthy addition to this series.

excerpt

I wake the next morning to a rough tongue touching my nipple. A smile spreads across my face as I open my eyes and expect to find Freya. My face falls when I see it’s her fucking demon of a cat laving at my pec like it’s going to produce milk at any moment. “Fuck off, you wee bastard!” I bellow and shove the animal off my chest. Hercules takes off down the hallway, and a snort echoes in the room. I turn my gaze to find Freya perched on a chair in the corner of her bedroom. She’s dressed in a long nightshirt, her red hair a wild mess of curls, and her makeup smudged like she was properly fucked last night. And she looks positively entertained. “Did you just sit there and watch your cat violate me?” I croak, sitting up and rubbing my tender nipple. She giggles and steadies herself so as not to spill the two cups of coffee in her hands. “I came in to bring you a coffee, but Hercules looked like he was warming up to you, so I just sat down here to not interrupt. I had no idea he was going to lick your tit.” She bursts out laughing all over again. “You and I are in a fight then,” I reply gruffly, propping myself up on the headboard of her bed. “That was disturbing.” She nods, her face still tormented with poorly concealed laughter. “For us all.”
