Synopsis

How long would you wait for the love of your life?

The Asher Bailey who comes home to his quirky small town isn’t the same man who put a ring on Grace’s finger. He’s bigger, harder, haunted. Forced to give up Grace and everything else that was good in his life for a prison sentence he barely survived.

Now that he’s home, he finds himself aggressively welcomed by his brothers and gleefully gossiped about by his neighbors. He’d counted on both.

But he never expected to see Grace still wearing his ring.

Grace’s fairy tale didn’t end. It was interrupted. She’s spent the last seven years living her life while waiting for one man. Now that he’s back, she’s got her work cut out for her. He’s scarred and angry, and stubbornly convinced they can’t be together. She’s more than happy to educate him otherwise.

Every beer, every prank, every kiss brings him closer to where he’s always belonged. In her life. In her arms. In her heart.

Asher fears the darkness inside him can’t be contained. But Grace won’t give up on him without a fight.

Author’s note: A brooding, wounded hero and the woman who won’t give up on him. A pack of unruly, prank-loving brothers. A wild neighborhood rumor mill. Spectacular BFF banter. This is a love story about soulmates that delivers the heat and all the feels. The Bailey Brothers series is meant to be read in order and Fighting for Us concludes Grace and Asher’s happily ever after.

Caroline's Review

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Adored Asher and Grace's story!

"I'd spent the last seven years thinking it was over. She'd spent those same years believing it wasn't."

My heart really went out to Asher as he adjusted back into normal life outside of prison. I felt for his struggles, his emotions, his doubts and his desire for Grace. She was ever patient, hopeful and devoted. These two were steadfast in their love, but I understood Asher's feelings on the possibility of a future relationship between them.

"She was the moon to my ocean. I couldn't escape her gravity."

I loved this story. It had the classic Claire Kingsley hallmark of strong family bonds. I loved Grace and Asher as a couple, as well as the craziness that was the Bailey brothers and her bestie, Cara. I also enjoyed the little of mystery in the story. There was plenty of feel-good about this novel, as well as some angst, some laughs and whole lot of love. Adored it!

Meet S.L. Scott

New York Times and USA Bestselling Author, S. L. Scott, was always interested in the arts. She grew up painting, writing poetry and short stories, and wiling her days away lost in a good book and the movies.

With a degree in Journalism, she continued her love of the written word by reading American authors like Salinger and Fitzgerald. She was intrigued by their flawed characters living in picture perfect worlds, but could still debate that the worlds those characters lived in were actually the flawed ones. This dynamic of leaving the reader invested in the words, inspired Scott to start writing with emotion while interjecting an underlying passion into her own stories.

Living in the capital of Texas with her family, Scott loves traveling and avocados, beaches, and cooking with her kids. She's obsessed with epic romances and loves a good plot twist. She dreams of seeing one of her own books made into a movie one day as well as returning to Europe. Her favorite color is blue, but she likens it more toward the sky than the emotion. Her home is filled with the welcoming symbol of the pineapple and finds surfing a challenge though she likes to think she's a pro.

RELEASE BLITZ & REVIEW: Sweet Spot by Rebecca Jenshak

🔥🔥 NEW RELEASE 🔥🔥

Sweet Spot by Rebecca Jenshak is LIVE and FREE in KU!

A hot-headed college golfer falls for her swing coach in this fun and sexy sports romance.

Lincoln Reeves may be a pro golfer and revered swing coach, but when I meet him, he is just one more person telling me I’m not good enough.

So, I do what any girl in my position would do. I tell him to get lost and take his arrogant, annoying smirk with him. I never expect to see him again. I certainly don’t expect to run into him that same night after one too many tequila shots.

Turns out that he’s kind of a big deal. Okay, fine, a really big deal. In fact, he might be the one person who can take my game to the next level.

Convincing him to help will be difficult.

Not throwing my club at his handsome face when he makes me work harder than I thought humanly possible will be excruciating.

But not falling for him will be the hardest thing of all.

Caroline's Review

4 Stars

This was a great, slow-burn read.

"I'm frustrated by my inability to ignore how gorgeous she is."

Keira Brooks is a talented golfer on the Valley U team, however, the team coach seems to have something against her and never supports her. When she meets Lincoln Reeves, a well-known swing coach, she manages to persuade him to be her coach to improve her game. Never mind that he's absolutely gorgeous because he is one tough taskmaster.

"She doesn't need to know that I think it's beautiful how she lights up when she talks about golf or how I want to run my fingers along her smooth skin."

Lincoln Reeves has never been as excited to find someone with talent like Keira's. His business is booming and he really doesn't time to take on another personal client, but he can't resist coaching her. Not only is she an impressive golfer, but she's beautiful and sassy. However, with one divorce under his belt already, does he really have time for a serious relationship in his life?

"This unhurried pace and the look in his eyes as he stares down at me seems to blur the lines we've drawn and all the rules we've set."

This was a great slow-burn romance. The relationship between Keira and Lincoln bloomed so naturally. I loved the rapport between them and how well Lincoln understood her ambition and what made her tick. Keira was a real trouper! She was incredibly dedicated to her craft and sport. Overall, a really enjoyable read.

I broke it.

When the clock struck twelve, I went back to being a servant. He promised to let me go with my heart in pieces...but Grayson Crowne was always king at breaking promises.

I refuse to let him lock me in a tower.

I have no choice but to take the only out offered to me--another cruel prince.

Refuge in a man I loathe.

Rescued from the man I love.

I wanted to forget Grayson, forget Crowne Hall, and hide, but fate has other plans.

But if Grayson and I are fated, then our fate is forbidden.

Our happily ever after will only end one way...in heartbreak.

About the Author:

I started writing the moment I could read. My first characters were Wibbley and Squig and I used MS Word and clipart to bring them to life when I was a kid in elementary school. I started seriously thinking about being a writer in High School and I remember the day exactly, because it was such an epiphany. I was always so uncertain. You know how everyone was always asking what you wanted to be when you were older? Well I NEVER could decide.

I wanted to be a marine biologist.

An actor.

A FIRE FIGHTER (thank you Joaquin Phoenix in Ladder 49 for that phase).

One day it hit me—A WRITER. I could do it ALL. Then you couldn’t stop me from writing. I penned my first novel at fifteen (but don’t ask me to show it to you, because it’s like I was in competition to beat the thesaurus). When I was diagnosed with a chronic illness, writing became even more important, because it became my therapy. When I wrote my characters, suddenly I wasn’t so alone.

These days you can find me daydreaming about where to travel with my husband, singing in my car, or lost in the newest K drama. And planning my next novel, of course

BLOG TOUR & REVIEW: Love in Deed by L.B. Dunbar

Love in Deed, an all-new standalone contemporary romance from L.B. Dunbar, is now available in Kindle Unlimited!

GVL06-DUNBAR-EBOOK

Sometimes it takes an outsider to force us to see who we are. The real struggle is accepting what we learn. For Beverly Townsen, nothing could be closer to the truth. Virtually a shut-in, Beverly has pulled back from Green Valley’s community, preferring the isolation of her farmhouse and her daily routine of viewing home improvement television shows. When the opportunity arises for her own home improvement and a personal re-assessment, she’s not so excited about the reality of real life versus DIY programs.

Jedd Flemming understands physical pain and personal loss, but it’s never stopped him from bucking forward in life. A former military man and rodeo star, his life as a nomad comes to an end with false accusations and a family matter back in the Valley. It’s been a long journey to find his way home and once there, there’s nothing he wants more than to reclaim what he’s lost…and maybe the elusive female reclusive who holds a sliver of his past.

With an unprecedented proposition, Beverly finds a stranger living in her barn, raising horses on borrowed pastures, and plowing his way into her vacant heart. Old hurts linger, but sometimes love in deed is louder than words.

‘Love in Deed’ is a full-length contemporary romance, can be read as a standalone, and is book #6 in the Green Valley Library series, Green Valley World, Penny Reid Book Universe.

Caroline's Review

5 Stars

This was an amazing story of two people who were bent but not broken, finding love where they never expected to find it.

"Despite our faulty bodies, my body is drawn to his in a way I can't explain and don't wish to define."

Beverly Townsen is something of a termagant. Sharp-tongued, bitter and a virtual recluse with only her adult daughter for company. When a striking stranger comes knocking on her door with a proposition, she's against it, however, her financial situation begs to differ. The fact that he also makes her feel things that she hasn't felt in a very long time (if ever) is something else that completely takes her by surprise.

"A man changes all his plans for a woman like you."

Jedd Flemming is back in Green Valley with a plan. He just needs Beverly on side for him to carry it out. All he wanted was to rear horses on land that his family once owned but he never expected to fall for Beverly. However, the secrets he carries and a face from the past could ruin everything.

"Quit fighting me. Or better yet, let's fight. Let's knock down and drag this out, and wrestle until we're so wrapped up in each other we can't draw another breath."

This slow-burn romance really gripped me. Both Beverly and Jedd were bent but not broken. Both were physically hindered but they worked so well together. I loved Jedd's patient, understanding and steadfast manner. I loved that he coaxed Beverly gently out of her isolation and showed her through his kind, well-meaning deeds what love truly was. It was heartwarming to watch Beverly gradually shed her old, bitter existence and come alive under Jedd's care and attention. She completely blossomed as he worked hard to rid her of her doubts and gave her back her self-esteem and confidence. Their exchanges were amusing, flirtatious, and sometimes acidic (especially from Beverly) but they really suited each other and were beautiful together.

GVL06-TEASER02

Excerpt

“Momma,” she whispers, and I turn at the soft question in her voice. Her eyes scan my face. Does she fear she’ll look like me one day? Those bright eyes will dim, and lines will form in the corners. Will they be rivers formed from tears, or will she eventually find laughter? Does she wonder if her lips will match mine, permanently curled downward? Can my girl still smile? Will her hair go gray too young as mine did? Will the stress of her life turn her into someone lonely and lost?

I blink back the tears fighting for release. I won’t cry. Nothing left to cry over. It’s all gone.

“Do you fancy him?” my daughter asks, and I choke on the question.

“What…? I…of course not. Don’t be silly. I’m sure he’d be more interested in the likes of you.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?” Hannah asks, brows rising in surprise.

“I’m sure I don’t need to explain the birds and the bees to you. Men like him only want young things and only want one thing from those young things. I don’t think he should stay here,” I sneer, recognizing the pulse at my neck and the thump of my heart. My daughter is a pretty girl, and this older man could be attracted to her for all the wrong reasons. Young girls go for older men to solve their daddy issues.

“He’s sleeping in the barn,” Hannah counters, her voice deepening in displeasure. Ticking off points on her fingers, she continues, “We don’t need to feed him. He’ll rebuild at his expense or hire what he can’t do himself. The back field will be plowed and prepped for spring planting.”

I snort in response, but my eyes return to Jedd’s movement. Into the barn. Out in the yard. My observation traces down his perspiring spine to the waist of his pants where his shirt has untucked. My fingers curl on the armrest of the rocker as my eyes outline the fine globes accentuated by those smooth pants. My mouth goes dry.

What is it about this man? Why am I suddenly lusting after him?

I can’t. That’s the bottom line. I can’t anything him. Under fifteen percent and tight pants and a perfect backside is still a man with empty words.

My eyes fall blindly on the reality television program. The only man a girl can count on is the fictional kind. I force my attention away from the barn, but my eyes seem to have a will of their own.

“We can’t have a stranger living in our barn,” I huff. Jedd stops, turning in his tracks with a pile of lumber on his shoulder as if he heard me, which is impossible on two counts: the panes of glass and his lack of hearing. Still, he stills, and his eyes narrow on the house as if he knows I’m watching him, I’m talking about him, and I don’t agree with this arrangement.

“Too late. He’s moving in.” Hannah definitively nods, dismissing my opinion as Jedd swings back around. She leans down to kiss my cheek and then exits my room, but I remain transfixed.

Suddenly, reality is more fascinating than television.

My eyes continue the cat and mouse game of watching Jedd disappear and then reappear. I don’t know how much time transpires, but eventually, the bed of his truck is empty. Still, I hold my breath as if the barn is a giant octopus, swallowing him whole. I fear he might disappear forever like Howard did, which is the silliest thought I’ve had in a decade. I don’t need Jedd. We don’t need Jedd. There will be no attachment to him.

But then, Jedd appears at the open barn door and gives a single wave toward the house, and I smile in spite of myself.

RELEASE Zhanshi by Anna Edwards

Title: Zhànshì
Series: Sinister Fairytales Collection
Author: Anna Edwards
Genre: Dark Fairytale Retelling
Release Date: May 26, 2020

Lia has known she was different since the age of five when her father taught her the skills of her ancestors. His stories of heroic exploits have fueled her fantasies for years. Little did she know that her expertise would be called upon when two cities, two triads, go to war. Will it be a step too far to think she can hide who she really is?
Jaxon has known his career path since he was a little boy when his father promised his only son to the leader of the Yu Shi triad. Jaxon doesn't mind—it allows him to center his chaotic thoughts and fight his opponents to the death. But when he's partnered with a mysterious new recruit, he begins to question everything he knows. What is the young boy hiding from him?
Zhanzhi is a modern day retelling of the tale of Mulan for the Sinister Fairytales Collection. Warrior Lia must find her inner strength to defeat a deadly enemy, who's been left bitter by his quest for absolute power, while at the same time falling in love when she least expects it. Nothing will be as it seems in this dark triad world where a moment's hesitation can be your downfall.
Claire's Review ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Zhanzhi is part of the Sinister Fairy Tales Collection and is based on the story of Mulan.
Although these books can be read as standalones I highly recommend that the whole
collection of books is read as I have really enjoyed the whole collection of retellings.

Lia was meant to spend her life content as a mother and a housewife, but she has other
aspirations and wanted to be a warrior like her father. California is run by two Chinese
families, one of these the Yi Shu, demands the eldest male in each family to fight for them
when they come under attack. Knowing that her father would never survive, Lia decides to
take his place by cutting her hair and lying about being a man and going under the name Zhan.

Jaxon has spent his life with the Yi Shu, and when he is asked to train Zhan he finds himself
confused when he begins having feelings for the new fighter.

Out of all the books in this series, this is one of the ones I was most worried about, mainly
because I was never a fan of Mulan the film, but I was pleasantly surprised how much I
enjoyed this one. The story was well written and kept me turning the page to find out how
the story would end.

I would definitely recommend giving this one a read

All I am a British author, from the depths of the rural countryside near London. In a previous life, I was an accountant from the age of twenty-one. I still do that on occasions, but most of my life is now spent intermingling writing while looking after my husband, two children and two cats (probably in the inverse order to the one listed!). When I have some spare time, I can also be found writing poetry, baking cakes (and eating them), or behind a camera snapping like a mad paparazzi.
I'm an avid reader who turned to writing to combat my depression and anxiety. I have a love of travelling and like to bring this to my stories to give them the air of reality.
I like my heroes hot and hunky with a dirty mouth, my heroines demure but with spunk, and my books full of dramatic suspense.
