Oh, wow! This book!!

Ash Elliott lives with her father, step-mother, and her 'Terror Triplets' step-brothers. Her father has changed since he got re-married and her college fund has been drained. When richer-than-god Winston Constantine offers her a unique job, she's hard-pressed to refuse him because the lure of earning the money to secure her college education is very tempting indeed. The fact that his twisted games taps into a hitherto unknown kink in her is a bonus. However, beneath Win's cruel, kinky behaviour lurks a possessive and caring man. Even though there is clearly no future for them, Ash can't help falling for him.

This book was a fabulous ride of a read! I expected the kink but I didn't expect the humour. Ash is a lippy and spunky young woman, who just wants someone on her side. I loved that she gave Win as good as she got. I was charmed by the fact that he was absolutely tickled pink by her attitude and snark. LOL. I shuddered at the way the Terror Triplets treated her and her stepmother needed a good slap. Even more so, her father needed a good shake to wake the hell up and take a good long look at his daughter and how sad he made her.

"Beneath the bored, smug, confident man is a beast. Starving. Angry. Possessive."

Win was a contradiction of a man. He was a proud alpha with strong family pride, and punishing expectations of the people around him. Unfortunately, for someone who is usually a cold hardass, his arrangement with Ash leaves him vulnerable to his enemies. I loved that he acknowledged to himself that he was well and truly tangled up in Ash but she was also his blind spot.

I can't wait for the next book because holy hell! I didn't expect the cliffy! I feel a little bit mad about it. I could see the 'time left in book' counting down and I was dreading the ending because I just bloody knew! Gaaaahhh!!

This story was just OK for me.

"She made me feel uncomfortable, she made me feel raw, and worst of all she made me feel like I was out of control."

Madison Evans and her mother have just moved to Black Mountain so her mum can work for an old friend. When Maddy first meets the son, Kyler Sinclair, they get off on the wrong foot. He's cruel and cold yet compelling. Kyler is hiding a world of pain and secrets, and prefers to keep people at arm's length, but there's just something about Maddy that draws him in. And, so begins their hot and cold interactions.

"She felt so good. She felt so warm. She felt like home."

So, this story touched on some hard-hitting subjects, but I felt the novel was a bit rushed and could probably have been longer in the telling to ease the reader into a more believable relationship between the main characters. Maddy is warm, sweet and innocent, and Kyler is quite the opposite. I liked that Maddy was like a balm to his bitter soul but he struggled with his feelings for her. Kyler was crying out for support, love and understanding. I loved how they communicated through music, and their conversations about classic novels, but I just felt that the whole story just needed more development.

So freakin’ good!

Kailani Hale is back at Black Mountain after running away two years ago. She's back a changed girl and thirsty for revenge against Landon Blackwood and all those closely associated with him. She will do whatever it takes. However, that's easier said than done when she's back in his orbit.

"We are two wounded animals with overgrown claws, just waiting for an excuse to rip each other's throats out."

Landon is simultaneously excited and furious that Kail is back. Didn't she take enough when she disappeared two years earlier? He doesn't want anything to do with her, yet he can't stay away from her.

"It would be a hell of a lot easier to hate her if she didn't look like everything I ever needed."

Oh my god! This was such a fantastic read! Landon and Kail together were electric. There's so much going on in this story - lies, secrets, violence, misunderstanding - yet, through it all, it's clear that they are meant to be together. Kail puts on a brave façade while she's out seeking revenge, but she's not completely lost to it, as she still has a soft conscience and doesn't revel in her actions. Landon puts up with a lot from everyone because it's easier and people will still do whatever they want. He's famous and adored, but never been truly loved. My heart hurt for him. I loved the two young lovers together and I loved the ending of the story. Definitely need to read more from this author.
