She snarls those words at him with barely concealed hostility the moment he arrives at her window to ask for her license and registration.

After a few choice words, he lets her go with not one ticket, but three.

Next time she should check the attitude at the door and realize that he’s a cop, and just doing his job.

Come get some.

Fast forward a week, and he’s still unable to think about anything else but her and her bad attitude—oh, and those sexy lips, angry eyes, and her promise to make his life hell.

Knowing he should stay away, he takes a step back and tries not to think about anything that has to do with those long legs, and that mouth that could be used for much better things than spewing venom.

Then she makes a mistake.

At an interview, she rattles off a random number to use as a reference for a job that she desperately needs, and that number just happens to be Johnny’s.

She’ll regret being so rude, and one day she’ll think twice when she decides to throw attitude toward a man like him.

Vowing to make her life hell, he decides to have a little fun.

Never get enough.

What he doesn’t expect is to fall for her.

The more Johnny learns about June, the deeper he digs his hole. Soon, he doesn’t know which way is up, and he’s just fine with that.

Over time, he learns that not everyone bothers to dig past her prickly demeanor and get to the woman that lives deeper.

When one too many citizens of Hostel, Texas tries to back her against the wall, he’s had enough.

After all, you don’t mess with what’s his.

Fab story!

"I looked up at his sharp tone. And my breath left me. Oh, holy God. The cop was hot. So. Freakin'. Hot."

Johnny is ex-military and was discharged due to an injury. He's left his hometown to get away from prying eyes and his father's domineering ways. He's the newest officer at Hostel PD. When he pulls June over and gives her three penalty tickets, he never expects to see her, again.

"I'd only met one June Carter in my life and that was two hours ago at a traffic stop. She was cute, sweet, and honestly a sourpuss."

June is desperate for money and will work anywhere. However, not everywhere wants to hire her. She's been thoroughly tainted by her parents' diabolical reputation, as well as traumatised by her despicable childhood growing up with them. The only reason she stays in Hostel is for her grandfather. Desperate times call for desperate measures and she puts a fake number on her application form. By freak chance, it's Johnny's number!

"How could you let some other man touch you? You're. Mine."

This was a great romance! Johnny is such a good guy. I loved how quick he was to note how the townspeople treated June. I also loved June's affect on him. Where he'd been in a kind of limbo mourning the end of his military career, I thrilled at the fact that his interest in June breathed new life into him and challenged him. I loved his infinite patience with her and how he gave her time to get used to him.

"I don't want to die when you finally made me want to live."

June is such a tough cookie! I mean to carry on living in a small town where people hated her because of her roots, and where she worked an evening job that made her uncomfortable. The mutual interest and attraction between her and Johnny was hot, and I thrilled at her response to him. She had such a strong will and I loved that she could lean on him.

A great read that was fun, sexy and heartwarming.
