Claire's Review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I am ashamed to say that this is my first ever Alessandra Torre book, although she has always been on my tbr list, I have never gotten around to reading anything until now. The synopsis of this book really intrigued me and I couldn't wait to start it.

This is the story of an author called Helena Ross, who has been told she has 3 months left to live. Helena wants to write one final book before she dies, a book full of so many truths about her life. However, with the side effects from the medication, Helena cannot write this story alone and so she decides to bring in her enemy in the book world to ghostwrite the story.

Putting this review into words is so hard for me, this book truly was everything, and stayed with me when I had to put it down to face real life, and has stayed with me for days after I finished it. Being a mother, and also having a daughter called Bethany, made parts of this story really hit me hard and I found myself, not so much in tears but having to stop and take a deep breath to take in the life that was Helena and what she had gone through. I can say at times I really didn't like Helena as a character but at the same time she felt real, and part of me could understand why she behaved the way she did.

A fantastic read, and totally not what you expect it to be! A must read!!!

So much so that they plastered my ugly mug all over campus, in bold printed letters:

The morons can't even spell. And the texts I've been receiving are what wet dreams are made of. But I'm not like these douchebags, no matter how hard they try to turn me into one.

THIS ISN'T THE KIND OF ATTENTION I WANT.

One text stands out from hundreds. One number I can't bring myself to block. She seems different. Hotter, even in black and white.

However, after seeing her in person, I know she's not the girl for me. But my friends won't let up--they just don't get it. Douchebags or not, there's one thing they'll never understand: GIRLS DON'T WANT ME. 

Especially her.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

So many fans of this series (including moi) have been chomping at the bit for this third book. So many of us had theories about who this book was going to be about, so I absolutely hooted with laughter when I read the dedication! 

This book was a fantastic follow-up to the first two books. The author turned stereotypes inside out and delivered a novel that was sweet, amusing, so sexy, and so swoony.

"I'm the last guy women notice."

The hero is such a solid, upstanding, dependable, albeit somewhat awkward guy. He doesn't pretend to be what he isn't. He's real and he's comfortable with the person that he is. Although, he's often adorably clueless! It takes a woman, who is his complete opposite, to discover the man beyond the facade - to learn his heart and soul.

"After dating man-children who care only about two things - sex and themselves - I'm ready to find something more meaningful."

The heroine is matter-of-factly self-aware but hugely likeable, and I adored how the guy made her question everything she thought she found attractive. He's different from any guy she's ever known and he thoroughly piques her interest. In fact, she's been waiting for a man like him to come along, and with a bit of patience and nurturing, shows him through actions what a desirable and gorgeous guy he is.

Both characters absolutely blossom throughout the course of the story, as they learn things about themselves, as well as each other. The hero truly comes in his own and, wowzers, he's totally to die for! The heroine is all heart and so certain that she wants him that she won my heart over completely, too. These two really made me smile and swoon!

Imogen showed the girl on the door of the nightclub her police ID and was waved forward into the club. She felt a rush of adrenaline as they entered; this was her thing, this was who she used to be. It was hard to rebel against her flighty mother when Imogen was a teen. Irene Grey would waft around wearing bright, multi-layered skirts and cardigans, smoking pot and occasionally flashing the neighbours as an act of protest. When Imogen was small her mother had insisted on dressing her in much the same way. As soon as Imogen could, she’d started wearing a pair of baggy black skater pants and a hoodie, partly to fade into the background, but also to make sure everyone knew that she was nothing like her mother. She would go to the local goth clubs, and her mother became increasingly concerned that she was exhibiting the same mental health issues that she had. The opposite was the truth; Imogen was just trying to pull away from Irene, to become an individual in her own right.

She tugged now at the clip in her hair and let it fall onto her shoulders. For the first time in a long time she felt like a traitor, slightly uncomfortable being here on duty. Here to disrupt the enjoyment rather than take part in it. The goths she had known were all quite anti-authority. She tousled her hair a little and clocked Adrian staring at her curiously. She doubted he had ever set foot in a place like this in his life. Girls in short skirts, corsets, excessive theatrical make-up. Men in motorcycle masks, tight-fitting clothing and eyeliner. There were a few people who didn’t fit into either category at a cursory glance.

‘How did you know about this?’ Adrian shouted to her above the music.

‘I know lots of things. Besides, I was going to come anyway, the band they have on tonight are pretty decent.’

‘You like this?’

‘Oh yeah, I like this.’
