Loved Emmett and Avery's second chance story!

Avery is proud and tight-lipped about the past. Her heart was broken by the boy she loved and her faith in him shattered. When they find themselves in close proximity, she starts to lose a grip on the truths of her life, which she kept secret for so long. When she's given a second chance, she has to ask herself if she is prepared to put her heart on the line, again.

Emmett was destroyed by the girl he loved in high school. Ever since, he's been drifting from relationship to relationship, unable to commit. When she's suddenly back in his life, no matter how much he can't stand to be anywhere near her, he is helpless against the inexorable pull toward her. When tension is high and feelings are overwrought, everything he believed to be true is thrown into question, and secrets come to light that rock his world.

Oh, my god! These two! They absolutely breathed and pulsed with lust, pain, and love. I loved the way this story was written as the author slowly uncovers their history and events in their past. I really felt for Emmett. His loneliness and his need to be needed. He was crying out for someone to love him completely and unconditionally. I loved his determination for them to have a second chance - he fully embraced their togetherness. Avery is a strong, tough young woman who had overcome much adversity. I admired her strength of character and her fierce loyalty and love for her family, especially her sister.
This story was fiery, angsty, scorching hot, and so loaded with tension that you cut through it with a knife. Loved it!!
