This story was stunning! I was absolutely riveted by its beauty.

Finley Evans hasn't seen Declan "Homer" Carnegie since they were children. However, her childhood had been full of fairytales about 'Prince Declan' and when he finally appears back on her island home of Tristan da Cunha, she is just as fascinated by him as everyone else, even though she doesn't want to be.
"The gorgeous woman I lashed out at is the grown up version of the girl with the devastated eyes and dirty face."
The last time Declan saw Finley, it was in the aftermath of a traumatic event. His family has been a patron of the island and its people for years. He's back on the isolated island, not just as an ambassador, but for his own personal reasons.
"Every string I have is tied up in her. I don't know how I'll ever untie them."
There was something surreal and magical about this story set on a tiny island in the middle of the South Atlantic. An island steeped in its own sometimes archaic ways and traditions. It told of a young woman who appeared alone and lonely. Someone who was a fixture on the island but largely unseen. Finley was quaint and innocent, but gutsy and a little bit sassy. Declan was larger than life. So gorgeous and gregarious, hiding his pain and his issues from everyone except the very perceptive Finley. She herself is hiding a secret.
The whole story completely ensnared me. We had glimpses of the past intertwined with the present. I felt such a yearning for Declan and Finley to overcome their demons and their fears. They were soulmates - always a fairytale waiting to happen.
Gah! Such a fab novel that was sexy, visceral and beautiful. The author is a fantastic storyteller!
