The Summer We Fell by Elizabeth O'Roark is now live!
An Angsty, Second-Chance Forbidden Romance
He was my boyfriend's best friend—and the bane of my existence. I wanted to hate Luke Taylor. I did hate him. I just never hated him enough.
Now, a decade later, tragedy has brought us back to the place where it all happened—my best times, and my worst.
Our lives have changed, but that pull between us is just as strong as ever.
Only this time, it's more dangerous too.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
This has gotta be the angstiest and most heartbreaking book I've read this year. And, I absolutely loved it!
"You're something wild and magnificent, and he has no idea how to take care of you, so he spends all his time making sure your cage is secure."
This story moves smoothly between the present and the past, as we follow Juliet Cantrell and Luke Taylor's forbidden love story. Juliet was saved from an abusive home when she went to live with her boyfriend, Danny, and his parents - the local pastor and his wife. It was a life she was grateful for and, in one way or another, they never let her forget it. Her future was mapped out with Danny. One summer, Danny comes home from college with his best friend, Luke Taylor, in tow, and her peace starts to unravel as he challenges her life and what she really wants her future to be.
"Luke is my sun, my moon, my tide, and I'm tired of fighting his pull."
Juliet and Luke were a seething mass of emotions. I felt such sorrow for the situation that Juliet was almost trapped in. She felt unworthy and beholden yet thankful for the life that Danny and his parents gave her. From the moment Luke came into her life, it was the first time that someone actually saw her for who she really was - her fears, her talent, and her worth. And, Luke! Oh my gosh, I fell for that guy hard! He mocked and pushed her silently to be more, yet he would have razed the world for her. Swoon!!
"I haven't loved many things in this world but I loved you from the minute I saw you, and whether it's today or seventy years from now, I'll love you with my dying breath."
I was so desperate for them to have their chance and I mourned the years they lost. Seriously, this story was just so freakin' angsty, with small pockets of joy and happiness. Even though I never wanted the story to end, it was such a relief to get to the end and finally, finally see Juliet and Luke's love bloom out in the open. Such an epic read!
