Oh my gosh! This novel was funny with quirky, adorable characters. It completely charmed me!
"She's the four-leaf clover."
Felicity Murphy is not normal. She was a child prodigy and now has a clutch of college degrees under her belt to show how wicked smart she is. She's also a highly-talented, comedic ventriloquist, and never shuts up. Unfortunately, she's also something of a dick magnet and keeps attracting weirdos...and her brother is forever getting into trouble defending her honour. She's currently off men.
"Hockey players don't scare me. Ares Berger? He turns my insides to jelly."
Ares Berger is not normal. He's a behemoth, hotshot hockey player. He's virtually mute and resorts to communicating via gifs, grunts, random words, and scowls. However, it doesn't stop him having success with the ladies. He finds Felicity cute and funny, but she's decidedly off limits.
"Ares Berger is under my skin. And I don't know how to get him out. Or if I even want to."
When they find themselves babysitting one another, there is mutual lust. Over time, they begin to see beyond each other's quirkiness through to the heart of each other, and what makes them tick.
"She looks at me like I'm her hero. Like I'm somebody."
Ares and Felicity!! Seriously! They were opposites but were totally made for each other. I absolutely adored them!
Ares knows exactly who he is and what he strives for in life. His public persona is not the person he truly is. He's often misunderstood and written off as a simpleton. He might be a huge, hard-to-miss giant but nobody but his family and closest friends truly see HIM.
On the other hand, Felicity is still searching for her purpose. She had a ridiculous amount of intelligence but remained directionless. People see her a certain way but I loved that Ares truly saw her for who she really was. I loved how quickly she figured Ares out and how well she understood him.
This was a hugely amusing, heartfelt, and super sexy novel! I loved it!
