I think people are either going to love or hate this book! I loved it! It smacked strongly of Dangerous Liaisons/Cruel Intentions. This story is dark with the author prefacing it with plenty of trigger warnings. The fact that she says "if you meet Dare in the real world, you should run like the wind" says it all!

Chase Darington AKA Dare is the king of Baymont High and his girlfriend, Anae, is the undisputed queen. Both have a reputation for being twisted, cold, and up for a game. When Aubrey Gale is caught in their cross hairs, her quiet life is turned upside down.

I don't quite know where to start with this book. It was dark, nail-biting, and kept me on the edge of my seat. Both Dare and Anae are pretty depraved. However, where Dare has an inkling of good in him, Anae is completely sociopathic and beyond redemption. The story is told mainly from Aubrey's POV but the few instances we have of Dare tells me that, in spite of his own sociopathic tendencies, there is a softness in him. He is most definitely wicked and cruel and beyond acceptable, yet I was still rooting for him. Kinda says it all about the author that she can write such a twisted character and I still enjoyed him! LOL. I liked Aubrey - she spoke her mind, and I loved her courage and confidence. She wasn't a pushover but you might be excused for thinking that when she's with Dare. He mesmerised her and clouded her thinking. However, in the end, she made her choice with a clear mind and her eyes wide open. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
