What a fab read! Scorching hot, gritty, and emotional.

"It was useless. I was addicted to her, and it was becoming more. Same for her or she would've kicked me out in two seconds tonight."

Cruz Styles and Mara Daniels had a great not-friends-with-benefits arrangement. Mara also had rules in place that Cruz wasn't allowed to break, but she finds herself breaking them all on her own. The more rules she breaks, the more cracks appear in her high walls. Cruz seems to have it all going on - he's the golden boy of Grant West's hockey team. However, he has his own demons to contend with.

"He was so inside me that I hadn't realized how inside he was, but now I was seeing him and feeling him, and he was mine."

This story gripped me hard. Mara had a ton of baggage. She was a ballsy, take-no-prisoners girl, who wasn't into flaunting herself but go plenty of attention anyway. I loved how she stuck up for herself and wasn't afraid to deal with people how she saw fit. She was supremely confident but not arrogant - purely because she didn't care. But Cruz....oh my word. No matter how hard she tried to deny it, they were more than just an arrangement. She knew it. He knew it. They had a constant frustrating push-and-pull, and I loved that he called Mara out and made her admit that there was something more to their relationship. I loved that he understood her and saw through the facade she put up for the world. There's a lot going on in this story with lots of characters in play - some I recognised from other Tijan books - but you just need to go with the flow and get stuck in. Following Mara and Cruz's relationship as it evolved from something simple into something more complex, as well as Mara realising that so many people cared about her was enthralling and pulled on my heartstrings. This was an absolutely scorching read, as well as gritty and emotional. Loved it!

Fab, easy read. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Adored Dex James!

This was such a fun read! Dex was so gorgeous, sweet, and attentive. He was completely and utterly enamoured of Lindy. I adored him and his dirty mouth! I wasn't 100% sold on Lindy in the first book, but this story gives us a more rounded view of her and what she'd had to do to make sure she and her sister had a comfortable life. I loved that she was able give up some control and lean on Dex. I enjoyed that she let her inhibitions loose with him, and that she finally came to her senses about him because that guy was a swoonfest. Loved it!

Emma Chase is a beautiful and sexy theatre major, which makes people think of her in a certain way. She yearns for someone who sees beyond her looks. When she bumps into Dante Douglas on the first day of psych class, there's no denying the spark between them.

"He makes me feel...like I fit. I ache to be with him and when I'm with him, I ache for him to be closer."

Dante, bless him, is every kind of awkward. When it comes to women, he's always been in his brother's shadow, but finally someone he likes is interested in him back. Until he finds out that his Emma is the same Emma that his brother has been crushing on. The brother that he's keen to have a better relationship with.

"My girl. That's what she is. Mine. Malcolm's just going to have to deal with it."

I really felt for Dante in this story. He was gorgeous and thoughtful, and wanted to please everyone and not hurt anyone's feelings. In the process, he only hurt himself. I loved that Emma was the catalyst for him to speak up and do something to please himself. And, can I just mention how hot Dante was?! 🔥🔥 I'll be honest and say I had mixed feelings about Emma. I wasn't 100% keen on her in the first book and, in this book, I think she could have also worked harder to deserve Dante. She had issues but I felt she was also somewhat selfish, and she could have had a bit more empathy for Dante's situation. She never put herself in his place or questioned what she would have done if that had been about her and her sister, Kat, who she was super close to. Relationships are two-way streets, and I felt like if it wasn't her way, then it was no way. Overall, a great read with plenty of spice and a gorgeous hero.
