REVIEW: Relent by Nina Levine

Relent: Sydney Storm MC by [Levine, Nina]

Relent by Nina Levine

Evie Bishop grew up loving Kick Hanson. He loved her, too. They were inseparable. Best friends who looked out for each other. Until the day scandal hit their families and ripped everything apart, changing the course of all their lives.

Kick follows a dangerous path that leads him to the Storm MC where he spends his days buried deep in a violent and lawless world that is slowly consuming his soul. Evie works hard to escape the hopelessness that threatens to swallow her after her family is ripped apart. She builds a stable life for herself, however it's devoid of the one thing she has always longed for - Kick.

The love these two have for each other never wavers but sometimes in life, love isn't enough. Even in the times they find each other again, they can never make it work. Kick fights against bringing Evie into his world and Evie refuses a life with Kick if he won't fully commit to her. However, when circumstance throws them together again, Kick knows he must finally make her his. The trouble is, Evie's done. She loves him but she believes their chance to be together has long passed.

When Kick finally stakes his claim, will Evie relent and give their love another go, or has Kick left it too long to go after the woman who has owned his heart forever?

Relent is the first book in the Sydney Storm MC series. This is a spin off series to the Storm MC series. Readers do not have to read the Storm MC series to read this one.

Julie's Review
⭐⭐⭐⭐

I popped by Nina Levine cherry with Relent, and oh my what a read!

Kick, super sexy alpha male, part of a motorcycle club, Storm MC, has been in love with Evie since he was a teenager.

They had grown up together, been through so much, life changing so many things.

Sadly, they reunite at a mutual friend's funeral, where all kinds of bravado takes place, but you cannot really deny the heart's desire.

Evie, who is now a counselor and dealing with adult life and all its trappings, whilst dealing with the heartache of losing one of her best friends.

Her heart still hankers after Kick, her long-time boyfriend, but they had broken up a few years prior, but still having very strong feelings for each other.

"She sucked in a breath and gave me a hesitant glance. “I thought you didn’t love me enough to fight for me, but now I can see you loved me so much that you walked away with unselfish motives. You’re such a good man, Kick, and you don’t even realise it.”"

They both have good friends that are currently in their lives, who have their backs.

Evie is also working through years of personal family pain, and it looks promising.

Kick is relentless in persuing Evie, breaking down her barriers.

“Because I love you, and I’ve always f*ckin’ loved you. I might not like the power you have over me, but I’m f*ckin’ angry with myself for even thinking I should put you second to the club. You’ve always come first, and you always will. I just couldn’t admit that to myself until today.”

They have a connection, which does not appear to broken, as much as they seem to think that it is.

The brothers at the MC club always have Kick's back when things start changing, but Kick has done some things he tries to keep from Evie for fear that it might keep her away from him.

Evie's love for Kick is so deep that she struggles with why they split up before.

I liked that Evie's family were regaining their bond, and finding peace after an awful tragedy.

I quite enjoyed seeing my name in print in the form of Evie's sister, Julie (LOL!)

This was a story of second chances, of learning life's lessons and overcoming them, of family reuniting. Learning to have faith and trust.

A story full of regrets, returning love, faith, hope, some violence, and hints at some very hot sexy times. A gripping suspense romance.

This will they/wont they story, with boundaries and loyalties being tested, Nina's writing brings you right into the story and keeps you there, wanting to know what happens next.
