Caroline's Review 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Mason Hill! You think you want to hate him but you can’t help falling for him!
”Charlotte Van Kempt is like the sun fighting through thick clouds. The scent of her reminded me of fresh air. Of possibility. Many, many filthy possibilities.”
Charlotte is sweet, innocent, loyal and hardworking. She doesn’t realise exactly what she’s signing up for when she accepts Mason’s diabolical proposition. She’s ashamed and humiliated but also mortifyingly aroused and lustful. She wants to believe the best of her family, as she tries to understand what drives Mason’s hatred.
”I want more of the intimacy between us. More of his pain in exchange for mine.”
Mason is bent on his revenge against Charlotte’s father, and his daughter is the perfect weapon. Unfortunately, he never expected her to have quite an effect on him. He hates the feelings she evokes yet he craves her. Whatever happens, she’ll pay for the sins of her father.
”My want for her has burst like a diamond into a million cutting shards. Each one of them refracts things I can’t want and can’t have.”
OMG! This book was a roller-coaster ride! For all his coldness and his brutality, there was no denying that there was a softer heart that beat behind Mason’s fine suits and mantle of power. I admired his resilience and tenacity in getting his family fortunes back to where they were before and more. He was a man to be reckoned with – a demanding, commanding a-hole. I loved that he realised his vulnerability where Charlotte was concerned – he recognised it, yet shoved it away. When he was with her, his control was close to breaking point each time. When he wasn’t with her, his thoughts were obsessed with her. There was almost a desperation in the tone of his desire for her. When he finally gave in – OMG! *fans self* Charlotte was really something – as young and innocent as she was, she had grit and a solid backbone. She did what she needed to do even though her father appeared to constantly underestimate and patronise her. I adored her own resilience and tenacity in pushing through. These two were a perfect, scorching match. Mason teased her mercilessly until he couldn’t hold back any longer. They were FIRE!! Cannot wait for the concluding book!!
