NEW RELEASE & REVIEW: Dark Promises by Winter Renshaw

I have a secret …

I don’t care if you like me or not.

Insatiable lust for power and control runs thick in my veins. My father served as president of the United States of America—and his father before him. Montgomeries are born to lead and rule, to fear nothing and cower to no one, to make allegiances not friends.

But I digress.

With a senate campaign about to launch and presidential aspirations at fever pitch intensity, imagine my dismay when my strategist tells me I need to “settle down” with a “nice girl” in order to appeal to my constituents.

Enter Rowan Aldridge, a head-turning stunner with a charm school walk, Jackie O. refinement, and a well-connected family.

She’s perfect.

So I’ll do what I have to do, make her believe what I need her to believe, and as soon as the campaign’s over and I’ve secured my senatorial seat, I’ll release my pretty little butterfly back into the wild.

But this isn’t about all of that.

This is what happens a villain falls in love.

Caroline's Review
⭐⭐⭐⭐

Another great read from this author.

"Keir has a reputation in this city. He's a womanizer with a healthy appetite for casual liaisons."

Keir Montgomery, America's quintessential bad boy, is planning on running for a senate seat. However, he needs to clean up his image and he's found the perfect person to help him.

"She's a rebel in disguise. A girl after my own heart."

Rowan Aldridge, America's quintessential girl good, is recovering from a broken heart. She's just looking for one night of no-strings passion and she's found the perfect person to help her.

"What is this madness? It's like we're playing a game of chess and he's copying every move I make."

Both have their own agenda but the more time they spend together, the more they let their guard down, and the more that their real feelings sneak up on them.

This was a great, easy, sexy read. Really enjoyed the push-and-pull between the main characters. I loved how Keir completely changes due to his feelings for Rowan. She really wakes him up to what is important in life. Rowan has a hard time believing Keir is a changed man, but I love that she sees beneath his lothario facade to the real man beneath.

“Do you want me to stay?” she asks, peering up at me through dark lashes.
“What kind of question is that?” I shake my head, eyes narrowing. “More than anything, Rowan. I’d give anything for you to stay, for us to be together.”
I kiss her sweet lips, and I’m bathed in a strange warmth, an electric sensation unlike anything I’ve ever felt before. And for the first time, my words aren’t bullshit and lies.
I want her to stay.
I want her to choose me.
