I had a lot of mixed feelings about this story. It was ridiculous, humorous, sexy, emotional, and even a little bit dark. I just didn't know how to feel from one moment to the next! A total mixed bag for me.

"I think you're intelligent and incredibly talented. I'm upset because you hide that from the world and pretend to be the opposite."

Nash Ellis and Paige Andrews are complete opposites. He thinks she's a Type A stick-up-her-butt princess, and she thinks he's a lazy moron. Neither are correct. When they are thrown together on a project, not only do they begin to find out more about each other, they also can't ignore the intense chemistry smoldering between them.

"Thick roots of connection sunk deep into my soul. I realized too late that they belonged to her."

The love story between Nash and Paige was heart-melting, intense and emotional. Nash was arrogant and flippant but, below the surface, he harboured deep, dark hurts. His lyrics really got to me. Paige was strong and smart and needed Nash in her life to loosen her up, while she provided him with a safe place to land. He was a broken boy and she brought light and hope into his life. When the storyline focused on them, this was what made the book for me. I loved see Abram and Kaitlyn, and I loved the closeness that Nash shared with Marcos and Nate. The camaraderie between them all, and the love and belief they had in Nash really drew me in. However, I felt that the utter ridiculousness of Chad and, to a lesser extent, Reedweather, really detracted from the story. I must admit that I didn't enjoy those parts as much. Overall, a great read that had moments that I wanted to skip, but also moments that I really indulged in.

Turning around, he stops in his tracks when he sees me. His face falls, and I don’t know how to read the mix of emotions that filters over him. He clearly doesn’t know what to do next, so I close the gap and grab his wrist.

“Let’s dance,” I say.

“What?”

“Dancing.” I wave behind me at the sea of bodies demonstrating this ancient ritual.

“You… wait. You want to dance with me? You’ve been turning me down all night.”

I nod. “Yes. Because I don’t dance.”

“But you do now?”

“No.”

“I don’t understand. What’s changed?”

“My internal—and a few external—organs.”

“Huh?”

His brow scrunches, and I notice for the first time how much I like the image of his silver piercing when he does that. I reach up and brush my finger near it, then let my touch drift down the side of his face. My gaze settles on his lips and a sharp wave of desire surges through me.

“I turned you down because you’re extremely attractive tonight,” I explain. “Dangerously so.”

“Wait, you’ve been turning me down because you wanted me too much?”

I nod again, forcing my attention back to his entrancing gaze. “Yes, and since we agreed we can’t have what we want, it felt like a terrible idea to indulge in a sample of the forbidden fruit.”

His confusion morphs into amusement. “Do you always have to say stuff in the weirdest way possible?”

I narrow my eyes at him. “Do you always have to be a jerk when I’m trying to be nice?”

“This is you being nice?”
