What a riveting, sizzling read!

Ian Jacobs is no stranger to hard lust but believes himself incapable of true love. From the moment he sees Grace, he wants her. What he doesn't expect is a startling connection with her. She evokes alien feelings in him that he doesn't quite know how to deal with, especially when he realises that she's all wrong for him. What he does know, however, is that when she asks for his help, he struggles to deny her, especially when it's a hopeless case and could cost him his career and his ambitions.
"There was no question that this man would break what was left of my fragile heart."
Grace is beyond desperate. When she meets Ian, she just knows that she needs to stay away from him. However, one reckless night leads to a solution to her problems - one that brings its own set of challenges. But the heart wants what the heart wants - even at the risk of being obliterated.
"And then there's you. This girl who I don't even know who I feel I might fight to the death to keep."
GAAAH!! This story! Every word was taut with tension and dripping with barely-restrained emotion. This novel was chock-full of desperate angst, palpable sexual energy, and heartfelt sentiment.
Ian is steeped in bleakness. He refuses to see himself as anything other than wretched and forsaken. I loved how Grace made him want to be a better man; to be worthy. I loved how much she confused and baffled him; how the connection between them was a tangible, living thing. She brought out the protector in him, and his possessive side, too. Grace herself is so courageous in the face of her battles, willing to do whatever it took to get her life back. Where Ian is concerned, she knows that he would only complicate her life, but I loved how she opened her heart to him, and showed him a world of happy possibilities.
"Hard and possessive. That was what I felt. Possessive. This girl mine. I wanted to own her. Take her. Keep her. Deeper. More."
Such another fabulous read from this author who consistently delivers with each published book. Before you've even started, you know you're going to have a highly emotional and sexually charged journey. This novel was something of a slow but scorching hot burn - so compelling and unputdownable.
