"Denying him wasn't possible. My lust flared...no, it raged within me."
Rose is shocked to discover that one of her newest patients is the man responsible for her losing custodial rights to her little girl. However, he has no recollection of her and can't understand her unprofessional hostility, when he's clearly in need of help. Furthermore, things aren't aided by the fact that there's a frisson between them that's hard to ignore.
When a truce is called between them and they get to know one another better, Rose realises that there's a lot more to Pearson than a ruthless lawyer. He's on the tough road to recovery and looking to make amends. Rose herself is battling with demons from her past.
"I'm going to shower you with more love than you can imagine."
Overall, I thought this was a hefty story that moved quite quickly. Initially, I felt that the attraction between Rose and Pearson took second place, however, it then took more of a spotlight as the story progressed. I felt that the development in their relationship was a bit choppy but once into it, I was fully invested in their HEA. I loved Pearson's relationship with Rose's daughter - who was a precious little thing.
"You lit a flame in me and as long as there is breath in my body and yours, that flame will keep burning."
I was immersed in Pearson's battle with his addictions, and his closeness to his family, as well as the growing understanding, desire and love between him and Rose. There was a thriller element to the story, which was gripping, and also some lightness in the story that made me laugh. Overall, a great story with lots of elements to keep it moving along nicely.
