Michelle believes in fairytale endings. She wants what her parents have had all their married life. She wants what her two best friends have with their men. However, she keeps finding frogs instead of princes. The first time she meets CJ, he sees her at her worst, but imagine her shock when she finds out exactly who he is. She knows that he's only interested in flings but there's no denying the chemistry between them.
"She looks up from her phone and smiles, and just like that, my chest feels achy and hot. I've never worked this hard for a woman, but Michelle's worth it."
CJ has zero interest in commitment or anything long term. He's seen what marriage has done to his parents and he knows that relationships rarely last. However, he's determined to have Michelle in his bed. When she makes a shocking discovery that has her questioning everything she believes in, she's not the only one who starts to change her outlook on love and life. Suddenly, CJ is fighting for something he never thought he'd ever want.
This was a great story. I really enjoyed the banter between Michelle and CJ. Their chemistry was tangible and super sexy. Poor Michelle! She was knocked for six by her discovery but I mourned the loss of her faith and belief in fairytales. I loved CJ's commitment to his crusade to show Michelle he meant business. I loved his patience and his efforts. Overall, an enjoyable story from a new-to-me author and I'll definitely be exploring her other books.
