Wow! What a brilliant read! I fall more and more in love with this author's writing every time I read another of her novels.

On her first night back in Quincy, Montana, Winslow Covington meets a gorgeous stranger in a bar and has an unforgettable night with him. She thought he was a safe bet as he didn’t live in town. She’s shocked to find out that he’s very much a resident of Quincy – Griffin Eden – a member of the omnipresent Eden family. As the new chief of police, not only is she female, she’s also young and beautiful, and the Mayor is her grandfather. She’s got a lot of work ahead of her to win over her staff and the town. She didn’t need the complication of Griffin.

”My skin craved the heat from hers. My fingers twitched, desperate to thread through her hair. My arms ached to hold her as she fell asleep.”

Griffin is dedicated to his family, their businesses, and most of all the ranch. As the eldest of six children, he bears a lot of burdens on his shoulders. He doesn’t have time for anything else, least of all a relationship. He generally sticks to tourists so he’s dismayed to find that his stellar hook-up is the new chief of police. However, there’s something about Winn that has gotten under his skin. After just one night with her, he can’t stay away, no matter how hard he tries.

”My heart skipped…My hand came to my sternum. She was perfect in that chair. So beautiful I wanted this view every night.”

This story sucked me in from the first chapter. The chemistry between Winn and Griffin was sizzling! I loved the heated compulsion between them whenever they were together. Both characters really captured my heart. Winn was a woman of incredible strength. I loved how she followed her convictions and her determination to do things right, even though they might not be popular with the town at large. She was incredibly smart, tenacious, and dedicated to her badge. Griffin was a solid guy with strong family values. I loved that, although he tried to fight his attraction to Winn, he recognised his feelings for what they were as time went on. I loved that he was the one who steered them into more emotional territory. The mystery element of this story was fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed speculating about the truth of the events in the story, leading to an exciting finale. Fabulous story and cannot wait for the next book!
