This was a fantastical retelling of a classic fairytale.

"Her mouth is definitely going to be a problem for me, but I can't deny that her beauty is utterly unparalleled."

Belle is the badly treated, publicly unacknowledged daughter, whilst Isabelle AKA Izzie is the golden child. G'aston AKA Gabriel Aston is the feared and ruthless businessman of their town. When the two meet, Belle is her usual feisty self and Gabriel is entranced, but realises that she is not the answer to lifting the terrible curse on him. However, he holds her hostage in order to track down and bargain for the most beautiful and wisest girl in all the land - her sister.

This was an interesting take on the story of Beauty and the Beast. I really enjoyed the main arc of this story. There were lots of cameos from various other well-known fairytale characters. Belle, in spite of her mistreatment, was indomitable and full of fire. Gabriel was arrogant and flirty, but weighed down by the burden of his curse. I loved how we discover that their lives were more entwined than they realised. Overall, a fun and creative retelling.
