I adore a broody, possessive alpha male and Miles Madison fits the bill perfectly! Once upon a time, Miles was Mr Romantic. Unfortunately, love had burnt him and made a fool of him. Nowadays, he’s content with one-night stands – no strings, no mess, no expectations. However, Eve Williams was a bit of a problem for him and he generally avoided her, even though his eyes always sought her out whenever she was near. She was a ‘forever’ kind of girl and everyone knew that she was looking for a HEA. A moment of weakness led to one slow dance and one scorching kiss between them, but then he shattered her hopes and drew a line between them. Unfortunately, in a small town like Carmel, she was everywhere he went taunting him as something he couldn’t have.

Eve has been saving herself for Prince Charming, who would one day sweep her off her feet but, in the meantime, she can’t help her infatuation with moody Miles. Unfortunately, she also finally got the message that his expectations were nowhere near aligned with hers. However, fate had a way of throwing her into his path time and time again, and they were caught up in a momentum that neither really planned for.

Oh my gosh! I loved this story. On the surface, Miles and Eve were like chalk and cheese but the truth was that they were both soft-hearted, vulnerable and looking for the same type of forever happiness. Poor Miles was so stunted by his past experience and had massive walls around his heart, but Eve’s sweetness, innate goodness, and honesty seeped right under those defences. I adored Eve! She was indomitable. I loved that she didn’t let setbacks stop her from pursuing her dreams. She had gentle strength, conviction and a steadfastness that blew Miles away. The two of them had chemistry in spades. There was a magnetism between them that was plain for all to see. Miles’s possessive and protective streak was a mile wide where Eve was concerned and, let’s be honest, it was hella hot! This story was sexy, beautiful and angsty, with a touch of danger. Such a fabulous read!
