I really enjoyed this angsty, sexy romance.

All her life, Sheridan Rose has been told to stay away from the Monreaux family. They have a long, tempestuous history with the most powerful family in Meredith Hills. When her path crosses with August Monreaux, she sets in motion not only her first love affair, but also the unravelling of the mysteries of the past between the families.

"This woman is pure love and hope and radiance - outshining the darkness that has haunted me my entire life. I can't go back to that."

So, fair warning, this story does not quite go where the blurb insinuates it will go. However, if you enjoy a new adult, angsty novel with a little bit of mystery and plenty of heat, then this is the book for you. I thoroughly enjoyed the budding relationship between Sheridan and August. I loved Sheridan's matter-of-factness about the future of their relationship considering the bad blood between their families, but my heart melted at August's change in outlook as he got to know her. It was wonderful to watch as he went from a guy with nothing really to lose, and no joy in living, to someone who had something to fight for. I adored his growing devotion to her and his certainty of a life with her, and the lengths he would go to, to ensure their future together. A fab, easy read.
