Reaper by Rachel Leigh is now live!
How far would you go to keep a secret?
They call me the reaper.
Saying I have no soul.
A heart that's charred black.
I tell them it's true,
because it is.
I've been hiding in the shadows.
Stealing secrets, destroying the lives of those who deserve it.
But there's one story to be told before this book closes.
My story.
Don't be fooled, it's not a fairytale.
I'm no prince.
And I certainly don't want a princess.
With me, she'd never get a happily ever after.
I'd break her heart in two then serve it on a platter with a smile on my face.
I told her to stay away.
Forced her on her knees.
Made her beg.
Made her cry.
Yet, she still wants my help.
Everything I do comes with a price.
They call me the reaper.
And she'll give me a soul.
Even if it's hers I take.
Caroline's Review
🌟🌟🌟🌟
I was really looking forward to Zed's book as he seems to be the most complicated and darkest of the Redwood Rebels, but it wasn't quite what I anticipated.
"The girl who shakes my world up and never even blinks in the process. She screams humanity and purity but digs her nails into my heart just to try and make me feel something."
Zed King and Vienna Moran have a secret history - some of it dark and some of it bright. She's been out of his life for two years when she suddenly crashes back into it. He's the only one left out of the Rebels who has yet to take his revenge. Things are not good between his friends and him but, in spite of everything, they are willing to help him - in exchange for Vi and her secrets.
"I've always wanted to love him enough for the both of us, but he'd never let me. He's a broken boy with a past that haunts me. He's my broken wing."
It took a couple of chapters to get into this story as I felt a slight disconnect from Zed and Vi. Their story felt somewhat separate from the other three books, but I think it was necessary as we find out about Zed and everything he'd been through, as well as his connection to Vi. Zed's story is quite pitiful but Vi was the only bright light in his life for a long time. She's his Achilles heel and, no matter how much he tells himself that he's no good for her, he can't keep away. Zed is loyal, unpredictable and seething with secrets. Vi is a tough cookie. She's been through a lot herself. Her faith and belief in Zed are his saving grace. Overall, this series has been a journey for the four Rebels, with a mystery threaded through the four books, and I loved the pretty sweet ending.
