Title: Things We Never Got Over
Author: Lucy Score
Release Date: 13th January 2022
Blurb
Knox is a badass, bar-owning barber who prefers to live his life the way he takes his coffee: Alone. Well, except for his basset hound, Waylon. He doesn’t tolerate drama (Knox, not Waylon. Waylon loves drama.). Especially not when it comes in the form of a stranded runaway bride.
Naomi answered her estranged--some would say evil--twin’s call for help, arriving in rural and rough-around-the-edges Knockemout, Virginia, ready to be the good sister as usual.
Too bad her evil twin hasn’t changed at all. After helping herself to Naomi’s car and cash, Tina leaves her with something unexpected. The 11-year-old niece Naomi didn’t know she had. Dun dun dunnnn!
There are reasons why Knox doesn’t do family drama or high-maintenance women who actually believe in all the bullshit trappings of romance. But since her life imploded right in front of him, the least he can do is help Naomi out of her jam. Even if the uptight good girl is a gigantic pain in his ass. As soon as she stops getting herself into new trouble, he can stop dragging her into his bed and go back to his peaceful, solitary life.
At least, that’s the plan until the trouble turns to real danger.

Top Read 2022
I could not put this book down. It had humour, heat and heart. My first top read of the year!
"I don't know what it was about that woman, but Naomi Witt had me tied up in f*cking knots. I didn't like it one bit."
Naomi Witt arrives in small-town Knockemout, Virginia, to a less than a warm welcome, especially from grumpy Knox Morgan. He thinks she's her terrible twin. She thinks he's a rude, albeit hot, jerk. Nonetheless, as her day goes from bad to worse, he begrudgingly comes to her rescue over and over and, before you know it, they are neighbours and he's suddenly a constant in her life. When that life continuously throws curveballs her way, Knox seems to be there to solve her problems. When the chemistry between them combusts into something hot and heavy, he's adamant that he can't offer her more than a good time. However, his actions say otherwise.
"I felt born again. Alive. Hollowed out and refilled to overflowing with something I didn't recognise. Something that scared the ever-living hell out of me."
I ABSOLUTELY ADORED this story. Naomi was a brilliant heroine. I thought she was gutsy, loyal, and caring, all while still maintaining her manners and class. She was the opposite of Knox, who was alpha, foul-mouthed and, dare I say, a little bit uncouth? Although, his heart was probably as big as Naomi's. Their chemistry was electrifying! I loved how she got under his skin and his chest hurting and feeling things he didn't want to feel. Against his volition, he was totally obsessed with her. I adored all the side characters: her niece (Waylay), her bestie (Stef), Nash, Liza J, her parents and a bunch of other friends that Naomi made who lived the town. The small-town characters were plentiful and colourful! This well-written story made me laugh, as well as pulled at my heartstrings with its excellent plot. Fabulous read!
