REVIEW: Seek by Mia Sheridan

Seek by Mia Sheridan

Wealthy socialite Olivia Barton never imagined her fiancé would disappear on what was supposed to be a routine business trip. She's even more heartbroken and confused when a hired private investigator tracks him half a world away, to a seaside town in Colombia. But the country has recently been ravaged by a massive earthquake and deadly tsunami, shutting down outside communication and making travel all but impossible. Still, Olivia is determined to make it to Colombia to find the answers she so desperately seeks. What she needs is a guide—a mercenary.

The man named Thomas arrives in shadows, an unmistakable air of danger about him, promising to help lead her through the ruined, crime-infested country. But when Thomas and Olivia find themselves fighting an undeniable attraction, danger takes on a whole new meaning. Then again, in the lush jungles of South America, all the rules are different and Thomas and Olivia are about to discover that sometimes the thing you seek, isn't necessarily the thing you find.

Seek is a STANDALONE novel with a small, fun connection to the Sign of Love Collection

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Oh, wow! What a fab story!

"She threatened me in some way I couldn't define and didn't know how to defend myself against."

Olivia Barton is on a mission. A dangerous one. But, she needs help. The taciturn man who offers his services has an air of danger himself, but she has no choice but to trust him and follow him into the ravaged and perilous depths of Colombia.

"He was dangerous, obviously used to the shadows, when I lived in the light."

The mysterious man, who calls himself Thomas, is on a mission. Olivia is just a means to an end. However, the unexpected and unwanted attraction to his client is a danger in itself. He can't afford complications.

I absolutely love this author. I often think that her stories have a dreamy, retro feel to them, but this story was grittier and earthier without losing any of the lyrical beauty that I always associate with her writing.

"A thrill seeker and a homebody. We're a funny pair, aren't we?"

Thomas and Olivia couldn't be more different from one another. Thomas was a thrilling, commanding and broody alpha. I loved how Olivia seemed to break through his tough armour, and unknowingly found his vulnerable, tender spots. I loved how something about her resonated with him. Olivia really was a sweetheart. She was good and selfless to the core and, in spite of her history, she was still innocent and pure in so many ways. I loved the intensity between them. Their sexual attraction was tangible - a living entity.

This story was initially about a woman on a journey to find her missing fiancé, but was actually a journey about herself and discovering something beautiful and exciting - something she wasn't looking for in the first place. Gorgeous read!
