Absolutely loved this story! It was angsty, raw and steamy!

”Calliope James was woven into my soul. A dark stain that no matter what I did, who I f*cked, I couldn’t get rid of.”

As teenagers, Calliope James and Zachary Messiah were the best of friends, bonding over their hate of basketball. They were each other’s support and rock, and were well on their way to being in love. Suddenly, Zach ripped their friendship apart by not only joining the school basketball team, but becoming its captain, and he was suddenly Mr Popular and behaved as if Calli didn’t exist anymore. No explanations. Three years later, Calli has just arrived at Steinbeck University. She’s got issues to deal with, not least an estranged brother who is at the same college, but also having to deal with the unexpected presence of Zach there, too.

”You can’t let me go, just like I can’t let you go. So the question is…what are we going to do about it?”

This was a riveting story! I absolutely loved the friction and taut chemistry between Calli and Zach. Zach wanted to hate her so much but he was so compelled to have her. His feelings were totally at war over her. He’d loved this girl so much, yet she was the one who’d changed him. He was just constantly angry and dark. Calli was just trying to keep her head above water. She was dealing with a lot and having Zach around was really not helping her equilibrium. Her heart warred with her head, too, but there was no denying the soul-deep connection they had. Zach, himself, was dealing with his own issues, and it was obvious to the reader that these two were all the stronger and emotionally richer for being together and having each other’s backs. I must say that Zach was a grade A a-hole to Calli. He was pretty brutal to her and handled her pretty roughly sometimes, but I think he just didn’t know what to do with his conflicting feelings. Together, they were hot AF but their past was mired in misunderstanding. They had a difficult road to happiness but I was rooting for them all the way.

”Zach kissed me like he was starved. Like nothing would ever taste as good as my lips. It was additive. Dangerous.”

Such a fabulous, sexy, emotional read. Can’t wait for the next book in this series.
