The first time I saw Hamilton, he was balls deep in one of the bridesmaids at my mother’s wedding.

He was lethal. Handsome. Cruel. Twisted.

I was drawn to him like fists to glass. We had an angry sort of relationship. There was nothing kind about the broken man that stole my heart and crushed it in his fist. He was all sharp edges. One touch could ruin me. One kiss could end our happy little family.

When my mother married Joseph Beauregard, son of the governor of Connecticut, I never imagined I’d fall in love with my stepfather’s younger brother. I never imagined I’d uncover the truth about his family’s bloody legacy.

Hamilton escaped with scars to his name and a ruined reputation. And now? I wanted out, too. I guess the scandal of our relationship was the least of our family’s problems.

Flip! Loved, loved, loved this story!

"Too young. Too innocent. Too off-limits. I supposed that's part of the appeal."

Vera Garner and Hamilton Beauregard first meet at the wedding of her mother to his brother. A decade separates them but their sizzling attraction brings them together. The black sheep of the family, Hamilton hates his father and brother and doesn't seem to particularly care about what other people think of him. Ever the good girl, Vera is more cautious but the harder Hamilton pushes at her boundaries, the more she weakens. As they fall deeper into each other, Vera realises that there is more to the bad boy than meets the eye but she suspects that things are not quite right - with Hamilton and with the Beauregard family, as a whole.

"I'm going to pluck you to pieces. I'm going to chew on your thorns. I'm going to breathe in your sweet scent, clutch you in my fist and ruin you, Petal."

Gaah! This story was sooooo good! Hamilton has SUCH a filthy mouth! I thought he was hot AF but his devil-may-care attitude hid a deep well of vulnerability, pain and bitterness. Vera was genuine, innocent and caring. My heart hurt for her efforts to be a good girl in all areas of her life to counter the guilt of her existence. She and Hamilton seemed very different on the surface when, in actual fact, they were very similar. The tension between them was thick and palpable. I thought they were exciting and thrilling together! They were raw, intensely sexual and also tender. God, I can’t wait for the concluding part of their story. Roll on February 4th!!
