RELEASE BLITZ & REVIEW: Hard Luck by Sara Ney

Release Date: March 25

SOME GIRLS HAVE ALL THE LUCK

Unfortunately, I am not one of those girls. Not when I lost my apartment because my roommate let the lease lapse while I was traveling for work. Not when my brothers keep finding love and my mother keeps reminding me I’m still single. Not after a one-night stand during my older brother’s wedding has me waking up pregnant.

I have to keep it a secret—from him, and my family. I sure can’t tell my brother his teammate, Mateo Jose Espinoza, is the man I slept with. Confident, funny, Mateo…

A GUY CAN’T CATCH A BREAK

Just when I thought I’d found the girl of my dreams, she ghosts me. Worse? Her brother refuses to give me her number, and my calls to her office go straight to voicemail. I thought I was a catch; professional athlete, charming, raised with six sisters—I’m a guy who knows his way to a woman’s heart! What reason could she possibly have for avoiding me?

When I finally catch up to True Wallace, I’m going to get the answer.

Caroline's Review
🌟🌟🌟🌟

This was a sweet, funny, surprise-pregnancy romance.

”We spent one night together; it makes no sense why I want to spend a lifetime with her. No sense at all.”

True Wallace and Mateo Espinoza meet at her brother’s wedding and hit it off. One reckless night of passion lead to life-changing consequences, which causes plenty of angst for True as she fights to overcome her embarrassment, her fears and guilt. Mateo is desperate to make contact with the beautiful girl who appears to have ghosted him. When he finally pins her down to a date, he is shocked by the news she has to share with him.

”She’s wearing regular jeans – not the maternity kind – her bump already straining the stretch of the denim, smooth and cute and mine. Mine. My baby. Wow.”

This whole story was essentially about True coming to terms with her pregnancy and how she deals with it, as well as how Mateo is really taken with her and, after the shock news, how happy he is at the prospect of fatherhood and a chance to build something with True. We see plenty of True’s brothers, Tripp and Buzz, who drive her completely insane, as well as Mateo’s equally crazy six sisters! I was delighted to see Tripp’s teenage neighbour, Molly, and sincerely hope we get a story about her, at some point. True is pretty sensitive and for the first few weeks after her night with Mateo, she deals with a lot of feelings of shame and embarrassment. I must say that she was a lovely woman but she didn’t seem to have a lot of command over her own life, if you think about her roommates, the way her brothers treat her, and even the way Molly manages to insinuate herself into her life. The only one she seemed to hold out against was Mateo! Now, he was an absolutely adorable, gorgeous guy! He had equally nosy, annoying sisters! LOL. They liked to barge in on him but I loved that he adored them anyway. I adored the letter that he wrote True – he was so full of good intentions, desire and hope for the future. A fun, humorous read with some steamy scenes.
