REVIEW: The Game by Anna Bloom

The Game by Anna Bloom

When Alyssa Rivers accepts the coveted fitness trainer's position with England’s top cricket team, The Red Cats, she knows it's going to be nothing short of hard work.

A woman in a man’s world, Lys not only has to prove she is the right person for the job, but she must earn the respect of cricket’s most elite players, including the surly team captain, Jase Willis. Known for his less than cooperative attitude on and off the pitch, he has the power to end her career before it’s even started … if she doesn’t end his first.

In a game where there is no room for big egos or bearing grudges, Lys and Jase are going to have to find a way to work together ... but can the woman who sacrificed everything for love find a way to reach the man whose only love is the game?

Caroline's Review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Freaking amazing read! Very reminiscent of Mariana Zapata's romances.

"A long time ago, someone told me that girls couldn't play cricket."

Alyssa Rivers, former national female cricketer, is the new fitness trainer for England’s top cricket team, The Red Cats. Being a woman on an all-male team, she knows she's got her work cut out for her. Plus, life is not made easy by the downright hostility from unsociable team captain, Jase Willis - a man who probably doesn't even remember insulting Lyssa when she first started out as a female cricketer.

However, she needs to make this job work, as she has too much to lose without a stable job.

"I want you...I want to own every single piece of you."

I seriously ADORED this book! It was a slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers read with a feisty, no-nonsense heroine, and a broody, difficult hero. Gah! It was seething with forbidden mutual attraction, hot sexual tension, and secrets.

"You're the best thing I have right now, and I won't risk ruining that."

I just loved how their relationship developed, as Jase insinuates himself into Lyssa's life. Bit by bit, he slowly shows her his true self, whilst trying to keep their blossoming relationship a secret.

Thoroughly, thoroughly recommend!
