Maggie Fitzgerald is a young woman who has overcome some horrific adversity. Now, she’s protected by her older brother and has a new family and friends who provide love, comfort and support. In her circle is one Rhys Manning. Playboy member of her sister-in-law’s band, Carolina George. He’s got a reputation with women that would deter anyone looking for love, but she sees through to the heart of him; she sees the tortured guy beneath, who is haunted by troubled dreams – same as her.

Rhys Manning believes that he always ends up hurting the ones he loves most. Maggie is sweet, gorgeously sexy, and has experienced enough trauma to last her a lifetime. The last thing he wants is to hurt her or tarnish her future. He knows that he’s no good for her, but he is almost helpless in his bid to keep his distance, especially when they are going to be living in the same house all summer. His demons are very much alive and he is loathe to bring her into his tangled life.

The one word that I would use to describe this author’s books is ‘seething’. They seethe with pain, with desire, with joy. They seethe with so much emotion, which bleeds through the pages, that sometimes it can be quite hard to swallow. I feel like we're on full throttle from beginning to end, as everything always feels incredibly intense, and this novel was no different. I enjoyed the slow, maddening burn between Maggie and Rhys. They were both damaged but, together, they found such solace, recognition and rightness. The climax to the story made my heart pound and I loved the epilogues. This has been a fantastic series. There’s so much love, support and camaraderie between the band members and their families, and the kids are always super-cute. If you enjoy epic, heartrending reads, then this is the series for you.
