As Calamity's newest resident, Everly Christian thought life in small-town Montana would be dull and tame--and she needs a little mundane after the last few chaotic years. But one night, boredom drives her to the local bar, where she finds herself sitting beside a handsome and mysterious artist. The man is anything but dull and tame, especially in the bedroom, and when she steps out of his shower and overhears his conversation, life gets interesting again. Reese Huxley needs a wife. And why shouldn't Everly be the bride? She's got her reasons for agreeing to the hasty nuptials--reasons she's keeping to herself. As long as she can stop herself from falling in love with her husband, she'll make it out of this sham marriage in one piece. But Everly has a weakness for wayward men, and the more Hux pushes her away, the more she realizes this bluff is anything but a lie.
Caroline's Review 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Such an amazing, passionate read. I couldn’t put it down. Loved it so much.
”No inhibitions. No limits. That woman had met me beat for beat, and we’d fallen together like wild, practiced lovers.”
Reese Huxley AKA Hux is a brilliant artist but a reclusive loner with a troubled past. He’s desperate for his 16YO daughter to live with him, but he has a bitter fight on his hands with his vindictive ex-wife. His lawyer jokes that his chances might be better if he had a wife – something Hux never plans to have again. However, when his latest (and hottest) hook up, Everly Christian, offers to be his convenient wife but with no strings and just hot sex, he’s desperate enough to take her up on her offer.
”His presence was a crackle in the air. A blast of warmth and lust and that magnetic pull.”
Everly is in limbo. She’s still recovering from a brutal shooting incident and has no job, no prospects and no idea what she’s going to do with her life. One unforgettable night with Hux has her craving more of him but she’s knows the score. Although when she overhears Hux’s conversation with his lawyer, she’s convinced this is her path and also her chance to make amends. However, as the passion runs hot in their fake marriage, she starts to realise that maybe things aren’t so fake between them.
”One of these days, I’m going to see you bare. I’m going to put a mark on every one of your curves. Highlight every line. Then I’m going to sink into your tight p*ssy and f*ck you all night long.”
OMG! Reese and Everly had the most amazing sexual chemistry. They were burning up the sheets and plenty of other surfaces, too! They were so magnetic together that they gave me butterflies. In personality, they were completely different. Sunny, friendly Everly is determined to coax her scowling husband into a more approachable person around town to increase his legal chances. I just adored Everly’s warm nature and her attempts to draw him out. I felt so sorry that deep inside, she was hiding a long-time hurt, as well as trying to overcome her fears from a recent trauma, but I loved the feeling of safety that Hux gave her. Hux, bless his heart, was pretty clueless about his effect on people. That guy definitely needed some social re-adjustment training! LOL. He might have been taciturn and gruff, but my heart felt full with all the little things he did for Everly. In turn, I loved how much light and colour she brought to his life. This was such a gorgeous story and I can’t wait for the next book.
