Remington Stringer has never been like most girls. She’s outspoken, brazen and wants nothing more than to escape the Nevadan hell hole that she calls home.
On the brink of eighteen, with a deceased mother and a well-meaning, yet absent father, she is forced to fend for herself. The only person she’s ever had to depend on is her borderline obsessive stepbrother, Ryan. But, what used to be her anchor is quickly becoming a loose cannon.

When Remi gets the opportunity to attend the best private school in the state during her senior year of high school, she jumps at the chance. Then she meets Mr. James. Ornery, aloof, and totally irresistible.

Most girls would swoon in secrecy.

Most girls would doodle his name with hearts in their notebook.

But Remi Stringer has never been like most girls.

Caroline's Review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Good God! This book! It wasn’t at all what I expected. It was electric and visceral, and the storyline took me by surprise.

“The way he looks at me – like I’m every rule he’s ever wanted to break – gives me a high like no other.”

Remington Stringer is on the cusp of adulthood and about to start at a fancy school for her senior year. From the rough side of Vegas, she has a mostly absentee father, and a relationship with her stepbrother that borders on unseemly. Her first day in school, she crosses verbal swords with Mr James. Mr James who doesn’t look like a teacher. Mr James who is beyond gorgeous. Mr James who looks at her like she’s a woman.

“She’s an innocent wrapped in a body made up of every sin I’ve ever wanted to commit.”

Pierce James is tempted beyond belief. He feels almost blindsided by the beautiful teenager with the sassy mouth and sinful body. However, he has secrets - secrets that connect them.

“Remington and I live in a gray area. Logic is pointless. Gut feeling is dangerous.”

This was a fantastic story! I love a good old teacher/student romance but this was SO MUCH MORE! The chemistry between Remi and Pierce was scorching. Both pushed and pulled at the other - treading the tenuous line between wrong and right. I must say Remi was a real little minx with Pierce, at the start - teasing, tempting, and testing him. Pierce was a flippin’ saint! But, gosh, their passion was so raw and real. I enjoyed the darker aspect to their story – the reasons that drove Pierce, and the rough element in Remi’s life. Her life seemed so dead-end and lacking in hope and future promise, but she’s so vibrant and alive that you so want her to rise above her circumstances.

Such a fab story with a fab conclusion. Thoroughly recommend!
