Review: Mr President by Katy Evans

Mr. President (White House, #1)

Mr. President by Katy Evans

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Katy Evans comes a sizzling new contemporary romance.

He's won the hearts of millions. But is he willing to lose his?

I met the president’s son when we were both young. Matthew Hamilton was handsome, polished, and intelligent. I’d never met a guy like him.

He promised me that he’d never run for president. I promised that if he did, I’d be by his side.

Three terms later, an invitation to join Matthew Hamilton’s campaign is the most exhilarating opportunity I’ve ever experienced. I'm determined to make a difference; he is determined to win.

Focused on his goal, Matt is steadfast, ruthless, and disarming. All eyes are on him and his popularity is surging. But soon, the next possible president of the United States is possessing me in more ways than one—and despite the risks, I'm helpless to resist.

We're stealing touches, stealing moments, and stealing away at night. But our chemical connection is quickly becoming dangerously combustive, putting not only my heart, but Matt's chance at the presidency on the line.

Winning will take everything. Walking away will be the hardest thing of all.

Caroline's Review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

My god! I don’t know how this can possibly be my first novel by this author!

“I see a flash of yearning in his eyes – yearning as deep as I feel, truly deep, not measured in tiny fractions.”

This story was like having little pinpricks of electricity buzzing along my skin, with powerful volts shocking me every so often.

“She’s holding her breath as I press softly, testing her, nearly losing control when I realize she wants it. She wants it as much as me.”

Charlotte and Matthew are beautiful and noble individually but, together, they are incandescent. If they were real, I’d be voting for Matthew for President, and I’d totally root for him to have Charlotte as his First Lady. They are the “perfect couple in the most imperfect situation”.

“She’s in my veins, this girl….nobody would guess how much I want every inch and piece and breath of hers.”

Charlotte’s childish adoration of Matthew growing into real adult love was inevitable. Matthew never forgot the little girl he met on two previous occasions or the letter of support he received from her. But when he meets her for the first time as a stunning young woman, he’s completely bowled over. In spite of his vow to remain a bachelor president if he got into office, he can’t not have Charlotte.

“I never thought I’d meet a woman like you. That pushed all of my buttons like you do. I want you against any hard surface available and I want to shield you from everything at the same time. I never expected you. And I didn’t expect you now.”

They are two intrinsically good people who have their eye on the big picture, but are human enough to indulge their own irrepressible, irresistible desires. Their relationship was forbidden; a potent recipe for scandal that could cost Matt the presidency, and ruin Charlotte’s reputation.

“She’s what I never knew I wanted and have discovered that I need.”

This story was full of intense sexual tension, charged atmosphere, a longing for more than they had, and a hopelessness at the fact that a victory will also mean a loss.

This novel was wonderfully compelling and, as I neared the end of the book, I kept asking myself, how is the author going to round this story off? Therefore, I was partly disappointed to see that we don’t get a definitive conclusion, but also overjoyed that we will get another whole book about this beautiful couple.
