Tori Duran is broke. She dropped out of college with loans to pay off. She's also sworn off men after being badly burnt. When her sister, Kat, hooks her up with a job, she can't afford to say no, especially as Kat is heavily pregnant and needs her close by. Her boss is gorgeous, which rings her alarm bells, but as he's so boorish, there's probably no danger of getting intimately involved with him.

Ethan Carter is in desperate need of a nanny for his two kids. Tori looks like a sexy fantasy come true and her acerbic tongue is direct, honest and strangely attractive to him. He's got a tonne of stuff on his plate, and he really can't afford to get involved with her. However, as every day passes and he sees how fantastic she is with his kids, and how amazing and thoughtful she is, his restraint is pushed to the limit.
"The barest parts of me just beneath my skin feel so thirsty, like I've survived a long drought waiting for the rain. Waiting for him."
This was a really fab read. Tori is a tough little cookie but extremely tender-hearted, and really quite insecure and vulnerable. She fights her attraction to Ethan knowing how messy his life is, and her presence in his life is only temporary. I had such sympathy for her fear of repeating her past mistakes.
"I want this to last. I want something permanent, and I'm ready to invest my heart and soul into making our relationship work."
Ethan is such a good man. He's a wonderful father, a good brother, and a caring son. I loved his immediate attraction and possessiveness of Tori, and how well he saw through to the heart of her, beneath her wild exterior. In spite of all his worries, I adored how he decided to just go for it with her, and how he started to see a future with her in it. She made him feel alive for the first time in years and, in turn, broke down her defences.
Such a sexy, gorgeous read with just the right amount of angst, and a feel-good, swoony conclusion.
