REVIEW: Nova by Rebecca Yarros

Nova (The Renegades, #2)

Nova (The Renegades #2) by Rebecca Yarros

The only heart he wants is the one he already broke...

He's Landon Rhodes.
The Renegade they call Nova.
Sinfully gorgeous, broody, tatted-up, professional snowboarder.
Four-time X Games medalist—
Full-time heartbreaker.

They say a girl broke him once—
That's why he's so reckless, so driven, so careless with his conquests.
But I'm that girl.
They can call me his curse all they want.
He and I both know the truth—
He's the one who destroyed me,
And I'm not the sucker who will let that happen again.

***NOVA can be read as a standalone***

Caroline's Review ⭐⭐⭐⭐

“I loved you. You broke me. No matter what connection we still have, I won’t ever let you close enough to do it again.”

Landon ‘Nova’ Rhodes, Supernova turned Casanova, has only ever known one true love. But he had to make an unbearable choice and broke her heart, along with his own. For years, he’s found oblivion in drink, women, and extreme sports. Suddenly, she’s back in his life, trapped on the college ship with him, and he’s determined to have his second chance with her.

“She was a tiny piece of dynamite, smooth and pretty but capable of blowing your damn head off.”

Rachel Dawson is fuming at the circumstances surrounding her presence on the ship. She’s hated Landon since he broke her heart, but the chemistry between them is still as tangible as ever. She’s feisty, incredibly stubborn, and holds on tightly to the pain that Landon inflicted when he deserted her.

“You can fight it all you want, but you and I both know we’re going to end up here time and again, because if there’s one thing our past has proved, it’s that you and I are inevitable, no matter who we hurt – even if it’s each other.”

Landon is desperate to have her back and is equally stubborn and persistent. He’s determined to prove to her that she comes first, fighting with everything he’s got to earn her love and trust back.

I adored Wilder, the first book in this series, and was hugely excited to read this one. However, I’ve got to say that although Rachel had good cause to make Landon work for it, I found her frustratingly stubborn to a fault. I just wanted to grab her and give her a good shake. I mean – give the guy a break! Landon was going all out to show her how much he’d change, not to mention that their friends kept telling her to hear him out and to give him a chance. Gotta give the guy kudos for his tenacity in his efforts to win her over.

The book had the same excitement and thrill in terms of the stunts the Renegades performed and the locations that they went to. The author is fantastic at landscape imagery and getting into the nitty gritty of the stunts. This was a sexy, full-on story, befitting of its characters!

I’m looking forward to Rebel’s story.
